Jumpshot fixes and the impossible - possible now?

Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:22 am

Preface this to say I am mainly an offline, MyNBA/MyEra player who is obsessed with Jumpshots. Over the years there have been some players who are impossible to fix due to how the NBA 2K jumpshot design works. The jumpshot action has a puppet warping effect, which tethers lower and upper release together in one motion, which does not conform to a lot of two motion/ "hitch" like jumpshots such as Cartwright, Perkins, Wilt, Kemp, Payton, Laimbeer, David Robinson, Hakeem and the list is fairly long.

Will modders be able to mod the jump-shot editor to allow for hang-time changes, and specific hitches for upper releases that is not possible by default? If you take players like Jimmy Butler for example, he has one of the longest hang times and highest upper apex than any other player ever. This is not achievable in NBA 2K25 even with pro play because of the design of the jumpshot action.

Anyone want to make this a project this year on PC?

I don't believe anyone's ever found a way to add such functionality to the jumpshot creator, or modify animations to that extent.

Sadly the .singlemocap and .multiplemocap files seem encoded. I wish someone would be able to figure out the data structure on those so that we can at least do some edits.
