It cannot be an excuse, but I never knew or guessed what you were going through all this time. Sometimes we tend to forget how hard life can get. So I kindly ask for your forgiveness, if I have been too insistent or selfish about trivial stuff. This is just a simple video game for fun after all, and you have every right to take a break, grieve your loss.
Lastly, please do remember and do not forget that you have a friend here to talk to whenever you feel like it. You can just PM me.
Wishing you the best in your life, my brother. Take good care of yourself.

Hey there, sorry about the halt of the project. Unfortunately I lost interest in this and 2K11 in general after finishing the Jordan Challenge artwork. Honestly, that was really all I wanted to get done, as the classic team stuff just wasn't enjoyable for me to play otherwise.
I needed a break but I do want to come back eventually to finish the rest of the teams. I've been using this project as a cope while going through a bit of a quarter-life crisis, my mother passed away around the time I started, and I wanted to keep my mind off things. Then I got burnt out and found other interests, and so that's where I'm at now.
I'm not going to get deep, but I think you could maybe understand that when you get in a rut, it's really really hard to change bad habits, and this project only made them worse. I've only recently started making an attempt at getting my shit together, so this project isn't as important for me anymore.
I appreciate people's offer to help out, I'm just being my stubborn self and wanted to keep a level of consistency between all the teams. It's a really inefficient way of working and it makes everything take so long. For now, I'd just use it as a base for your own modding projects. It likely won't be finished anytime soon, but I'm not done with it completely. If I get the itch again, this is what I'll come back to.

Hey PeacemanNOT,
I completely understand, and I want to let you know that it's okay to take a step back and focus on what you need right now. Losing interest in a project, especially after such a significant accomplishment like finishing the Jordan Challenge artwork, is perfectly normal. You've already achieved something amazing with that.
It's clear that this project was a coping mechanism for you during a very difficult time, and I'm sorry to hear about your mother. It's no surprise that working on something like this helped to keep your mind off things, but it's also understandable that you might feel burnt out and find other interests more appealing now.
I can absolutely relate to being in a rut and struggling with bad habits. It's incredibly hard to break out of that cycle, and taking care of yourself should always come first. I'm glad to hear you're making an attempt to get your life back on track, and that's far more important than any project.
Your dedication and attention to detail have been inspiring, and I know many people appreciate the work you've done. But now, it's time for you to explore new interests and experiences. Embrace this new chapter and the hope it brings.
Thank you for everything you've contributed so far. If and when you feel the itch to return to this project, we'll be here to support you. Until then, take care of yourself and enjoy the journey ahead.
Best wishes

PeacemanNOT wrote:Hey there, so I did eventually get back to this mod and I'm happy to say I'm close to my next release. I've finished the remaining 2011 teams including the all-star team and some other extra artwork, like the infamous block of cheese Larry O'Brien trophy. I also went back to make some generic national TV dornas including the playoffs/conference finals/finals variants. When I started working on this mod, I wanted to upscale the crowds/cheerleaders/sideline characters but the workload was just getting to big for me so I left it on the backlog. In the end, I've decided to instead just convert the Retextured Crowd/Sideline Character mods made by TNeck from 2K11 to 2K14:
So the next question is what exactly would get this mod to a 1.0 release, and I can definitely think of things but I'm not entirely sure if I'll ever get them done or if they're possible. Here's a list of things I've thought of:
- Finish the remaining throwback/retro uniforms that I've hidden
- Finish the hidden artwork (teams unlocked via cheat codes)
- Start working on the D-League artwork
- Make an opening day roster
- More cyberface conversions, especially for the 2011 Draft Class
Then there's other things that are just pipe dreams of mine, of which I'd probably have to hire someone to get done. They'd require a lot more programming knowledge, especially in game design which is something I don't really have.
- Stop the now unnecessary use of the crowd/bench player LOD system
- Stop the hiding of socks when players wear calf sleeves
- Automatically use postseason variants of courts/dornas
- Extracting the higher quality commentary audio of 2K11's console versions
- Finishing the 2K11 portion of the 2K13 Audio Editor that Leftos never finished
When I first started this I was kind of hoping that it might inspire other people to do things like this, but I haven't done a very good job at harbouring a community effort. Regardless, everything is in a much more complete state now and I'm sorry to the few people who were expecting more from the mod when they tried it. In terms of what's left, I want to convert some more 2K12/2K13 cyberfaces before I release what I've done. Not sure how long it will take but it shouldn't be very long. Here's some previews of what I've done:

Fantastic work Peaceman! It's honestly amazing how good 2K11 can look and play to this day, and even more so with your enhancements. I can help with more recommended signature animations if you need them. There are a few ideas of my own that I'd like to offer:
- Possibly look into converting some of Icecr's legend cyberfaces from 2K14 for the Jordan Challenge players? The V1 versions of his faces aren't locked behind RED MC and could theoretically be converted to 2K11 (and they look fantastic). If not, maybe use the face textures. viewtopic.php?f=153&t=105302

- Change Magic Johnson's post hook left and right animations to "Grounded" to give him his baby hook
- Later on, maybe experiment with the idea of restoring the old decade teams/International All-Stars with a few roster updates? They were actually kept intact in other ports of 2K11 such as the PS2 and PSP versions since they didn't include the historic teams. Some of their artwork is hidden with in the files such as their logos, jerseys, and audio.
- This is a small detail, but I honestly think it would be cool to have those original '91-'92 Blazers home jerseys before they inverted the colors. I don't think that specific jersey has ever been included in a mod before, and they could be added with reason for the '92 Blazers

With current rosters falling through, I've mulled other possible projects for NBA 2K11 to freshen it up for retro gaming purposes. Something we could use would be arm/leg fixes for the leftover faces: https://forums.operationsports.com/hoku ... den-faces/
I've casually looked into it, but I have no experience with the tools used for face/arm/leg texture modding. I'm guessing at the very least, we could re-use some common assets to give those faces proper limb textures and make them usable. It'd be great for some retro roster projects. If there are any resources on that, I'd be willing to give it a shot some time.

I probably need to pick a better match for the texture, most likely a player of a similar build based on the shadows there. Still, I've got the process of exporting and importing the textures down, so that's half the battle. I'll create a new topic with further results once I get the ball rolling on the project!

I wanted to thank you so much for this project; it has made the game shine again, I love it and I really hope you'll get to complete it.
One thing however, and I'm not sure if I did something wrong or skipped a download link, the Bobcats, Hornets and Jazz updated courts seem to either not be working or not have been included in the already existing links. They appear as the original ones, in any case.
Is it on my end?

PeacemanNOT wrote:Thanks Andrew, I noticed some hidden players with black arms too. I always assumed it was done to try and dissuade console players from modding unlicensed players into their rosters. Certainly an interesting way of going about it if that was the reason. But I think some of them have been fixed with this project already, most likely from the base roster I used. Then there's quite a few retired players who wouldn't have been free agents or in the d-league at the time, so I never really gave them much thought. Still it would be useful for other retro projects interested in bringing back more retired players. If you have any CFs to share I'll gladly add them in

v0.4:
- Completed all remaining 2011 teams uniforms, courts, stadiums, and logos.
- Completed generic regular season and postseason national TV dornas for all 2011 teams.
- Completed uniforms, courts, and stadiums for the 2011 All-Stars, Rookies/Sophomores, Generic All-Stars, and Team Jordan.
- Converted and added onto a combined version of TNeck's Retextured Crowd/Sideline Character mods from 2K11 to 2K14.
- Completed uniforms for Free Agents and Blacktop.
- Completed the remaining logo updates within the custom hex edited bootup screen.
- Updated stadium details of the 2011 76ers and 2011 Bucks.
- Updated court details of the 2011 Nets and 1995 Knicks.
- Created the 'Team Color Shoes' roster for Association/MyPlayer, so when players are traded they have the correct colors (some shoe colors may still be incorrect).
- Assigned random Nike/Adidas/Reebok/Converse shoes to the D-League and MyPlayer summer league players, so nobody is wearing 2K Generics.
- Assigned accessories and random face shapes/hairstyles to the MyPlayer summer league players, so not everyone is bald and looking the same.
- Fixed the jersey previews for V Necks with a logo or detail.
- Fixed the sudden texture cut-off on the blacktop spotlight.
- Updated the Larry O'Brien trophy to be more shiny and have correct bump mapping.
- Updated the dunk showdown uniforms in blacktop (only for available dunkers).
- Updated the alpha channels of various logos so they stand out less on certain backgrounds.
- Fixed some of the sudden uniform color changes when players transition from playing on-court to being benched.
- Added missing cyberfaces to several 2011 players, and converted a few 2K12 cyberfaces.
