We Have Witnessed The End Of 2K14 Modern Rosters

Fri Nov 24, 2023 5:10 pm

Sadly both Hawk23 has retired from making rosters and Skoadam has been inactive since June (potentially irl stuff, I am hoping its not what comes to mind), so we see the end of UBR and URB, meaning 2K14 (and 13, and 16 I believe) will not have 2023-24 rosters.

This is a sad day in NLSC / 2K Community history.

No, don't worry. 2K13 is not dead. I am alive even when the Republic of Austria treated me badly for a period of time of 15 years. (N)

In 2K13 we have all NBA rosters from the beginning to present (1946/47 to 2023/24). ABL, BAA, NBL, PBLA, ABA leagues were done completely. Play NBA teams versus ABA teams in the 1970s.
For FIBA we have Olympic rosters from 1992 to 2020, WordCup rosters, European Championships and Euroleague rosters.
I will add FIBA Euroleague 2023/24 to 2K13 tomorrow. :)
On monday I start new project "1984 Olympic roster". Michael Jordan won his first Olympic gold medal in Los Angeles 1984 (together with Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin, Alvin Robertson, Sam Perkins and Wayman Tisdale).
Thank God that all this was done for 2K13.

I talked with Sko recently and he is not done yet, so at this moment there is no need to worries.

PatTheHead, if you need uniforms for USA and Spain from 1984 Olympics write me a PM although I'm not sure if they without white square on shorts in 2k13. :)

Definitely not dead, we still have a lot of modders out there doing their own modding on latest cf, arenas, jerseys, shoes, globals, sounds, etc., some release it for free while some still ask for "donation" or P2P. I even posted modded PA sounds of the latest players.

We just probably need that guy who has the time to take the lead.

The best thing I did as a community member was learn from the roster makers and creators of all content. The overwhelming fact is that it's a lot of work, but very beneficial if you know how to do it yourself. I have downloaded all rosters over the years and have learned so much, which is why I create my own NBA, NCAA, High School, Street, Retro, and Basketball Movie mods. The great HAWK23 himself actually typed out an instructional, detailed manual on how to do some things concerning rosters long ago for me. We've been blessed with people like HAWK23, JaoSming, Medevenx, ReeTwokay, nick15, skoadam, and some others. At some point, roster modders may go away, but this game is too good and enjoyable for it to die for me. The only thing I don't mess with is Association because my free time is limited and I'm usually creating floor,s jerseys, stadiums, and other things. Instead of waiting for updates, you can make them on the fly as they happen. Shout out to the roster makers who continue to update this old, loveable game. 2K14 4EVER!!!!!!!!

We definitely appreciate your work, although this is about 2k14, do you think there can be 23-24 rosters for 2k14

I think there will always be someone who mods NBA2K14. Because it is the most beautiful basketball game ever made and above all the easiest to customize. I really thank everyone, because I've been playing it for 10 years and I'll never get tired of it! Don't give up modders!!!!! NBA2K14 will be eternal!

Hopefully the updates will continue. It might mean some new people stepping up and taking over the responsibility, ideally making those updates freely available.

It's also why co-operation, sharing resources, and in some cases open source releases are important to a modding community, especially as titles get older and fewer people are working on them. I'd love to see the retro modding scene thriving for some old favourites that still garner interest, but it's something we'll have to work together on.

I canceled my patreon membership. I hope someone continues doing this for NBA2K14 and then I will rejoin. I don't want to download another version of this game like NBA 2K13 for this.

I feel the same way.. Using those mods and making some additions or corrections from mode to mode (with my limited modding knowledge)I managed to have modes for every major basketball competition. NBA, Euroleague, National teams , NCAA and highschool. A real basketball universe!. 2k14 is not just the only basketball game I play, it is the only pc game I play. I hope mackubex has not stopped. We need updated NBA rosters. And there is sometime now that has not been an updated college mode.
Patthehead is doing an amazing job for 2k13 too. I have his megamode. But I am used to 2k14 gameplay more (for years I was adjusting sliders to achieve the perfect difficulty and realism for me). But if 2k14 modes stop (hopefully not) I might have to switch to 2k13

Is that the one with guidance on how to translate raw stats to 2K14 player ratings? Saw it before waaaay back when (like 10 years ago even), seemed interesting

Or maybe I'm thinking of something else

I am sure there is no final guidance to translate raw stats to players ratings.
I do rosters since the year 1998 using my own personal rating system.
In 27 years of editing I only met Slimm, who had a rating system as well. Compared to mine Slimms ratings system indeed was fine.
A couple of years ago he made his rating system public in NLSC. Search in NLSC for "Slimm44" and "rating".

I could very well have been looking at Slimm's system then. Interesting stuff.

I mean to respond, but I have no idea where there manual is. That manual was made in the early stages of the UBR for 2K12. REDMC makes things sooooo much easier. I myself still watch videos from JaoSming.

Not yet, my father was hospitalized for weeks. He is home yet, but is still in need of my helping hand.
I can't avoid time for new rosters right now.

I want to just say this, and without saying mean or like I'm attempting to start trouble, that unless OP or anyone has undisputed proof that every single 2K13/14 roster modder has retired/disappeared, PLEASE refrain from titling topics like this and potentially having people panic for no reason. Speculation is perfectly fine, but please word topics/posts in that matter rather than just making broad assumptions. Alright, I'll go away now.
