Player lock on bench

The game sims when ur player lock goes to the bench. Is there a way to turn this off so you can still watch from the bench?

I don't believe there's a specific option for it. The only workaround that comes to mind would be reassigning controls so that no controller is assigned to either team, and then when your desired player is subbed back in, take player-locked control again.
