NLSC Community Tournament - Using Parsec - Are you interested?

Postby Dee4Three on Mon Aug 16, 2021 8:41 am

Please choose the top 3 games you are interested in playing for a NLSC tournament, this will help with our decision. For now, this is for H2H, but in the future we may be able to do 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 tournaments (All humans)

Let me know in this thread if you have interest in participating in the tournament

Parsec has been so great and easy to use, that we wanted to get a tournament going with the community using a game everybody can agree on.

So far, the top choice seems to be NBA Live 10. However, we have other options as well,

The way we are looking at conducting this is a 8 team playoff bracket, and each round is a 7 game series following the NBA format for home and away.

Here are some head to head games we have played using Parsec:

NBA 2K19 - 93-94 Roster - Magic (Stildo33) at Supersonics (Dee4Three)

phpBB [video]

NBA 2K17 - 07-08 Nuggets (Dee4Three) vs 09-10 Lakers (Simonn-Lee)

Note: Using my UCTR mod!

NBA Live 10 - Manni Live (Jazz) vs Dee4Three (Thunder) using Parsec

Note: the reason for so many game choices is - I can host them all.

This means that two people can connect to me on Parsec and play their scheduled game.

The opportunities are endless.

I am down to play any Live or 2K. I have a soft spot for Live 10 but wouldn't be opposed to anything newer in either series just for better gameplay. I voted Live 10, 2K21 and Live 19 just cause those are the ones I play most currently.

I've cast my vote for the three that work best for me: NBA Live 10, NBA Jam: OFE, and NBA Jam (2010).

Looks like Live 10 may be the game of choice. It seems that you and I werent the only ones on the kick.

Note for all: voting matters, and choosing 3 games is important. Because it may decide the next tournament we do.

I couldn't choose any 2K game because I haven't played them enough to know which would be the best option but I'd play any game. I guess I could play 2K21 to get used to their controls since I have it free.
I think that a 2v2 Jam tournament could be fun, the On Fire Edition is the one I like the most but there are tons of good options (Showtime is a really fun alternative).

If we play Live 10, do we play with default rosters or an updated one from that season? I ask since some benches are really thin (I believe Atlanta has four subs) but if we play short quarters maybe it isn't that important.

We would play using the default rosters, and 6 or 8 minute quarters would be appropriate.

Yeah, 6 sounds good, and All-Star difficulty was pretty solid when Erm and I played. There weren't even many subs in our test games either except maybe one or two guys. With injuries nonexistent it should be fine.

Edit: Scratch that... just saw you said Pro on the server which is cool as well.

2v2 OFE sounds like a great idea as well!

After last nights success playing games on Jam 2010 with 4 people, it is certainly a great option.

Just stumbled onto this, I've been waiting for years to play NBA Street Vol 2 with other humans. I can't wait to get things set up and join these tournaments. I haven't played other games on the list much.

Awesome! I'd love to play it with someone else as well. I only play the Gamecube version, is that cool? Leave me a personal message to exchange Parsec IDs
