NBA 2K22 not being Next Gen on PC

Highly disappointed after hearing the news yesterday. Shame on 2K. So many missed out opportunities man... Gonna skip the game this year. What's your thoughts on this guys?

Just found that out in 2k22 FAQ.
I felt like 2 bucks for 2k20 and 8 dollars for 2k21 were fair fair prices during sale.
That's what I'm going to do with 2k22.
Wait for a sale.

It's disappointing, obviously. I'm not shocked, but I am surprised. I wasn't surprised that NBA 2K21 wasn't Next Gen because that version came out in November with the new consoles, as was the case with NBA 2K14 PS4 and X1 back in 2013. History suggested that it was quite possible, even likely, that NBA 2K22 would be Next Gen as NBA 2K15 had been back in 2014. Clearly, that isn't the case after all.

Although it's obviously a different company, Madden 22 being a Last Gen/Prior Gen port did make me wonder whether Take-Two would follow suit with NBA 2K22, and looking back, it might've prepared me for it. I assume it'll be a PS5/XSX port at some point, but it's a kick in the teeth that PC users will have to wait at least another year.

The real disappointment, or perhaps comfort, will come when the game is released and we see how good it is (or isn't). Honestly, while there was some improvement in NBA 2K21 and I did end up spending more time with the PS5 version, for a game that was supposed to be "built from the ground up", it had a lot of familiar legacy issues. The loading times, the re-vamped MyNBA, and some graphical enhancements were genuinely things that the PC version missed out on by not being a Next Gen port, but I wasn't blown away by NBA 2K21 on PS5 when it came to how the game played and how much I enjoyed it compared to my time with the PC and PS4 versions before it came out. If NBA 2K22 Next Gen likewise basically feels like Prior Gen with a shinier coat of paint, that mitigates the disappointment somewhat; for me, anyway. We'll see.

As was the case last year, the silver lining is that modding tools will likely be compatible or easily adaptable. That is of course countered by the downside that the PC version will not be a priority. Then again, even when PS4 and X1 were the latest consoles, the PC port of that version wasn't a priority for 2K, either. Snark aside, it will be missing out on some benefits being a prior gen port, but it is what it is, for another year at least.

As I said in the other topic, I already play several time consuming games with friends in that little free time I have and with PC not getting a next-gen treatment I just don't have time to get and play the game on launch. The autumn is loaded with interesting games for me (BF2042, FH5, TDU3) already.

I think the main problem is that there will be no change probably gameplay or mods wise as it seems from the description of the game in steam.

I really don't care about the graphics but what's the problem of converting the mods that are in next gen to PC version?

That's why the last game I did play before 2k20 was nba 2k14.
I'm fine with them doing what they are if that's their plan.
But they aren't getting more than 10 bucks from me in 2-3 years.

Last time I gave these scumbags money was for 2K19.

FIFA and Madden from EA on PC also will be a last-gen so this year for PC players gonna suck (don't know about PES from Konami).

According to the latest rumors, PES 2022 will be free to play because the game will be focused on the online mode.
I am not surprised about the strategies that these companies like EA, 2K, etc. are taking. I imagine Sony and Microsoft are putting money on the table. Clearly it is evidence that it is the way to sell more next-gen consoles.

I usually only buy on odd years, 15, 17, 19 and I got 21 for free cause I wasnt gonna buy that. So that being said I am probably gonna skip it as well

Surely I cannot be the only one thinking this is absolutely disgusting from 2K? Maybe people just aren't as surprised as me. Oh well, unlucky for them.

For me since 2k14, 2K have Ronnie face and i rly cant watch and cant listen to that guy so...disgusting from 2k? nothing new. They did in the past ( 2k14 two versions ) so im not surprised.

Disappointing to hear this. I remember how disgraceful NBA Live 07 and 08 were compared to PS3 and X360 releases. In 08 PC there wasn't even a proper roster update.

Apparently like EA did, 2K realized the transactions and online mods make the money most. A kid that would spam money into games, would have a PS5 or X360 sale. I think the lack of a next gen PC also relates to the promotion of consoles.

I am enjoying the next gen experience, I understand the PC as last gen. I love my 2k20 fictional league on PC...working on a fictional roster for Xbox X early 2000s style. Can't wait to try 2k22 but I am pretty happy with these older games....

Pes is officialy dead yesterday (becoming a mobile game in next gen consoles lol ). Except in simracing, there is no more simulation sport enjoyable.

pes is not officially dead, in fact they say that there is a next gen version for all platforms in unreal, with crossplay among all, the problem is that if you have a next gen version on pc and you play with a mobile user unreal will climb to the lower version, with the worst quality problem

Konami are professional liars, we still wait for their 3 year plans for the master league.

The trailer we recently saw which has consoles footages, is WORSE than the actual current game (Pes 21) in terms of graphics and gameplay.

The game will be in unreal engine 4, not 5.
Their "next gen" version for next gen consoles will be the same as current gen consoles, with, at best, some better lights.

Thats the price of cross gaming...
