MyTEAM NBA 2K21

Early days as everything begins anew, but nevertheless, welcome to our "official" MyTEAM NBA 2K21 topic!

Once again I've double-dipped, and so I have two different versions of the Chicago Breeze going on PC and PS4. On PC, I chose the Kevin Garnett starter pack, while I opted for Shaquille O'Neal on PS4. Let's see if I diverge much further than that. Like a new Fallout character build, I'm sure I'll resolve to do things differently, and then fall into familiar habits.

Played a few domination games last night... and while I did win, the gameplay is really unbalanced.

Cant tweak sliders, so you are stuck with what the game gives you. The CPU plays by different rules it seems, as they make contested shots all over the floor, while you routinely miss layups and those same shots.

Like I said, I won. But the gameplay just feels clunky, unbalanced, and blah.

I've noticed that as well.

i cant win on my team. i got lucky and won one game of domination. i cant do the score 50 points in one game and win. im just a deer caught in the headlights at this point but i do like what they did with my team i got some really good cards. and its fun playing with the people you grew up with.

They brought my boy Boris Diaw back but once again fuck up by making him a SF instead of center (Spurs version)... he's probably a budget baller at this point: a 5.5K Amethyst on PS4.

They need to be more generous on the position locks... there's no reason my Iguodala card can't play SG or my Diaw center.

Ah, but then they can't sell the special edition/glitched/out of position cards!

In all fairness it's a tough situation. The position locks help with balance - at least until those other cards come in - but when they don't account for versatile players who often swing between three positions instead of just two, or two positions but the two they've picked for the card are wrong, it becomes a problem. At the end of the day though, I think accuracy will help with proper balance, at least somewhat.

Iguodala I can live with... it's a Warriors version so I imagine he was playing some 4 but Diaw is inexcusable. Wasn't he starting at center for the Spurs even in the Finals? Wtf?

I recall him spending some time at centre for the Spurs. it's tough because he was a versatile player who seemed to float around between a few different positions. For what it's worth, Basketball Reference lists him as a power forward and shooting guard, but that's not always reliable in my experience.

You know what's dumb? The changing of card color for coaches... yeah, just because Klay & Steph got injured Kerr lost his talent for coaching.

I hadn't noticed that, but yeah, that's an unfair nerf for sure.

Having a blast with my new roster. Got Harden, Bargnani, Yao and Granger from the new set, but elected to swap Bargs and Granger for Dunleavy and Diaw after a game: now I have the Yao + Diaw dynamic from my Live 10 dynasty. In their first game I had 30 & 8 with Yao and a near Diaw triple-double (10-9-8).

I was using Rubio at point cause I literally had no one else, but realized I might as get Andre Miller from the new set cause he's a Sapphire anyway, plus he fits the bill for my slow af IQ lineup.

The Harden card is really solid for a Ruby... he can do it all.

I made a little Diaw highlight reel cause why not (well really only two plays) - he posterizes Paul George for no reason and then hits Dunleavy with a nifty behind-the-back pass:



First game with Andre Miller in the lineup... 17 assists; I think he'll fit in nicely.

Nah, check MyTEAM Central or something; they make custom cards there all the time.

My latest duo is Andre Miller and Bargnani: had over 20 assists with Miller and 40+ points with Bargnani in my last game (opponent raged when I went up by 23). I had Yao and he was doing amazing but I swapped him for Kirilenko just cause I like to try new cards. Current squad is Andre Miller, Mike Dunleavy, Kirilenko, Diaw and Bargnani.

Listed a badge and it sold for above 13K... was not expecting that.

It was just Gold.

Jerseys are particularly difficult to sell this year; you literally can't get more than the quick-sell option most of the time.

That's what I've been doing. Same with logos. When you've got the best cards selling for 5,000,000 MT, it all feels like a drop in the bucket anyway.

Is anyone else surprised at how generous they are with the locker codes? Usually my Saturday routine is to catch up on all the codes, and it usually takes quite awhile.

Also Andrew, the newest set sorta stole your thunder with the "familiar names in strange places thing"... I'm definitely copping Raptors Turkoglu at least - looking like a budget Amethyst you can get for under 5K, except it won't be a repeat of 2K19 where his price inflates tenfold cause position restrictions. They also finally adjusted his shot now... super accurate to irl.

Yeah, I noticed the familiar phrasing in that Tweet! The in-game name for the theme, "Double Take", is pretty good though. It's definitely what you're inclined to do when you see one of those players in a different jersey, so the name was well-chosen.

They've been good with the Locker Codes again this year for sure. I think they kind of have to be though, seeing as how a lot of items on the Season Agenda and the various Challenges require certain cards. Giving away a few lower-rated cards for the Challenges (like the Emerald Shaq, MJ, and Curry), or packs to pull themed players for the Agenda items, is a show of goodwill. Without them, it'd be a blatantly transparent attempt at forcing us to buy pack after pack, at prices that take a while to grind for, just to be able to do those things. Credit to them for being somewhat good about that.

Again, the biggest issue right now - especially on PC - is Auction House prices. They're through the roof, and there's been no in-game inflation to compensate for it, and counteract the third party MT sellers. They really need to find a way to do something about that, because it's ruined the "economy".

I've been quite impressed by the cross-generational integration of MyTEAM. I think the only issue I've had is having to redesign my logo on PS5. Other than that, everything's worked as intended. Considering a lot of things could've gone wrong there, it's a smooth transition back and forth between both versions.

As you can see, I've branded as the Bobcats and picked up Boris Diaw, Tyson Chandler and Stephen Jackson to play with him... just need that Ray Felton card lol. There's a DJ Augustin but he's only a Silver.

Contact dunk animations are definitely nice. Fine pick-up!
