When i press f8, nothing happens or no menu comes up. Is it supposed to be done another way?

I don't know if I'm the only one interested in playing NBA 2k20 under linux with mods, but...

I'm using Steam with the Proton compatibility layer (which is itself based on wine).

With it you can play Windows Games under Linux easily.

I managed to use mods in 2k20 with the external file plugin (waigua), by overriding the dinput.dll.

The same thing is not possible with your hook since proton already uses a modified version of d3d11.dll.

So my question is : would it be possible for you to modify Proton's d3d11.dll version to integrate your modifications?

@Choznjuan : I found a solution.

Looyh said some pages back that we could always use another dll injector.

So I searched for one capable of running in wine and found this : https://github.com/FransBouma/Injectabl ... r_v102.zip.

It's an injector that was made, initially, to use custom cameras in several games.

It is working perfectly in 2K.

You need to install NBA2K_HOOK in your 2k20 folder, then remove d3d11.dll.

Download the injector, and extract the zip in your "Downloads" folder (for instance).

Then you have to change the values in the file IGCSInjector.ini (that you will find in IGCSInjector_v102.zip) like that :

[InjectionData]
Process=NBA2k20.exe
Dll=YOURSTEAMFOLDERLOCATION\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\NBA 2K20\NBA2K_Hook.dll

Obviously you have to change the part "YOURSTEAMFOLDERLOCATION" to match your installation.

Edit, important : put the .ini file in your NBA2k20 installation folder.

If not already done, install protontricks : https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks.

After that you can launch NBA2k20, alt-tab to minimize the window, and launch your terminal.

Then launch the injector inside 2k's proton prefix like that (if the injector has been extracted in your Downloads folder) :

protontricks -c 'wine ~/Downloads/IGCSInjector_v102/IGCSInjector.exe' 1089350.

You will get a message saying that the injection is done.

Go back to 2K and press F8 to see the gui of NBA2K_HOOK appear.

It's working!

Obviously it would be easier to modify proton's d3d11.dll to avoid launching the injector every time.

I would like to be able to do it, but it seems out of my reach.

Maybe Looyh can work on it but in the mean time, we have a solution.

I hope that my instructions are clear enough.

One last thing: for the mods to work you still need to use the waigua tool, and override dinput8.dll in your steam NBA2K20 prefix (you can add a launch argument, or use winecfg in your proton 2K prefix).

I'm amazed to be able to play a fully modded 2K in linux, with perfect performance (better still than Windows with my rig).

You should first verify your protontricks installation.

What response do you have if you try "protontricks -s NBA" ?

Does it finds your 2k20 installation and give you the number 1089350?

Is there anyway to disable what ever it is that allows retired numbers to be worn, it just makes me feel weird when i see players in Lakers 8 or 24, and Bulls 23.

Disable "playerEditorPlus" in GUI or config.txt("playerEditorPlus":1, to 0).

You should first verify your protontricks installation.

hey guys i was doing good with these mods till i downloaded the draft class and i delete something that mess stuff up. so when i install the draft class by shujota i made the mistake and put his hook and dll files in to mines and not the game wont start it crashes at the begining screen and also i cant use th manhmood loading screens neither anyway to fix this?

I'm having the same problem, pressing F8 and the gui doesn't show. I went to the config files and it says :

for me it does not work when I press F8. F8 is also the sound key in combination with FN. Does anyone have a solution?

I think I disabled my mouse when i use the hook tool. Everything works fine when i press f8 but my mouse wont click anything.

Are there any alternatives to open the program? For me it doesn't work with F8 and F8 + FN. couldn't you make an easier starting icon like NBA2K Tools?

When I use this program, it's just squares and weird symbols that replace writing and lag my game?

I'm having the same issue. Have even removed it and then re-installed it onto my computer twice, still doesn't work whenever I press F8.

EDIT: I just fixed the issue. Press FN on your keyboard, and then press F8 (press both at same time). That fixed it for me.

Everything works fine, until i try to add scoreboards. I add a scoreboard, then when i go into the game, there is no scoreboard. anyone else with this issue? is it something i did?

I have an issue with portraits and/or face ids . Im using thunder shaqs '97 roster and portrait pack that goes with it with no problems until 2 days ago and now none of the portraits show up in game. The odd part is they show and are recognize in NBA tools but not in game , just shows regular cyberfaces and not even default portraits for the regular 2k roster

So I looked in the GUI for the team id but cant seem to find what I'm looking for, I'm using thunder shaqs 97 mod and I imported custom jerseys but cant seem to get the custom scoreboard to work with any of the teams that have custom jerseys, any help would be appreciated.
