I'll officially start rolling these out on the 5th but I wanted to at least try my hand at what they will look like. I gave their overall and their highest badges. Some people may not be happy, as I'm very stingy with ratings and badges. This is for two reasons. First, these are fully integrated with my NBA2k20.5 roster project. That project has lower ratings overall similar to FIFA, where a 90 overall is a complete gamechanger. Matching up against Giannis should feel like a nightmare and with this project, it is if you don't adjust your matchups and coaching to account for him. Therefore, the rookies overalls match the updated ratings system. Second, rookies should grow into their talent. Too often 2k starts a big name player like Zion with multiple gold badges. To me, that completely invalidates the need for mentoring that they implemented. It's okay that your favorite rookie isn't a triple-double machine competing for the MVP, that's how it should be.

With all this being said, here is the first preview of Anthony Edwards. It will replace those on the front page, as these are the final representations of how the players will look post-release. Feel free to discuss if you feel I slighted a player or overrated someone. I'm open to change but it needs to be more solid reasoning than "X player is gonna be a star".

Three prospects fully previewed per day for the next ten days, roughly in the order of mock drafts. That gives me enough time to finalize some minor details. The second rounders will be pretty much left un-previewed for those who download to explore. 65 prospects with an update later if it looks like certain missing players are rising. Thanks everyone for your patience.

No thank you man for your hard work and effort. appreciate it! absolutely looks like it's going to be an amazing project.

Is your roster project already out or still in the labs?

I definitely like the idea of lower rookie ratings. Especially this year in what is considered to be a pretty weak class.

Just wow...Fantastic work!

As I am already in the 2028/29 season I will likely never use your whole draft class file, but at least, when its finished, I'd like to use all the cyberfaces and portraits to add to the already existing players from that draft class.

Star power is considered weak compared to alot of other classes not saying I agree but its widely considered weak.

Re: Real 2020 Draft: Road to Release

Yeah, this year top end prospects suck. They have too many question marks over their projected ceiling, and most of them if they don't reach it become loosing players.

It doesn't have weak depth, actually picks 15+ could be very interesting because there appear to be a lot of projected really good role players, but yeah, the top-10 picks all suck in comparison to the average.

I mean compared to other drafts there is a pretty sharp lack of high end talent. Obviously you can't tell until the players get to the league, but as I said already... it is widely considered to a weak class at the top end.

There is certainly no star power and I tried to make the rating reflect that. But it is fairly deep with guys that will be in the league a long time. Lots of role players that can probably carve a career out for themselves. Especially with the draft pushed back and the lack of in-person scouting, it could be all over the place. I think it’s very similar to last year, minus the Zion/Ja/RJ top. This draft will have a lot of PJ Washington/Tyler Herro/Matisse Thybulle types that fall into the late first, early second. Guys that if they progress right can fill a niche on a team. They’ll probably never be All-Stars but they’ll be in the league awhile.

I think that’s very much still to be seen. While he’s got talent on the offensive end, he’s a massive liability defensively. He’s essentially Trae Young without the Curry-lite level of jumpshot. He’s either got to make massive strides as a defender or be a more consistent shooter to reach All-Star level of play. He’s currently a widely inefficient chucker with excellent vision and ball handling. Some experts don’t even have him as the top PG in this class. He certainly has some of the highest upside though, I agree.

Bluejaybrandon great preview screenshot.
I can already tell these previews are going to encourage a lot of conversation.
Are you going to start from the lower rated previews and then get to the top prospects at the end?
Seems like it will build suspense, but any way you choose seems like it will work out.

Interesting, I was considering going top down but that I really like the idea of a countdown and discussing non-lottery picks. I think I will go that route, thanks TG.

75 is spot on for Edwards, no real star power in this draft class and 2k usually exaggerates the ratings for rookies. I like the idea of lower rankings for all players too, there isn't enough of a difference in 2k ratings between game changers and great role players. Will definitely try out your roster once you release it, keep up the great work!

Unfortunately not. I’ve got them all set up to start to roll out today but it will be this afternoon more than likely. Starting with #30 through #28.

hes not a liability on defense he explained he had to do all on offense thats why you see clips of him not defending but hes been working on that and his work ethic is crazy for his age. also idk what boards you looking at but everyone has lamelo as the best guard in the draft.

Some have Haliburton over him, a few have Killian Hayes. Yea he is the consensus top guard in this draft, with most acknowledging he has a lot of star potential. That doesn't mean there aren't serious flaws in his game and numerous red flags. This also comes down to the lack of high end talent this year that he is a possible #1 overall. You're very invested in him clearly, as goods says you can change him however you want.

This is a brilliant idea. As someone whos played a lot of FIFA as well I always thought it was strange at how high the overall rating was for a lot of players in 2K. Also for ML users young players overall growth is crazy so its a great idea to start there overall lower in the draft.

Very true. This is a base and people will have disagreements. If you feel like your favorite player was slighted, drop the class into your MyLeague and bump the player accordingly.
