What do you think of this trade??

Postby UtahTio on Tue Oct 05, 2004 11:39 am

Ok, so if I do a season with the Jazz, I can trade Andrei Kirilenko for Lebron James straight up, and if I do a Dynasty, I have to throw in somebody else like Arroyo, but I can still get James.
Does that seem realistic to you guys?
I mean, Ill take advantage and take King James for my Dynasty, but I think Cleveland is giving up their franchise too easily.
Dont get me wrong, Kirilenko is freaking amazing, but the game doesnt calculate the hype around Lebron, so hes mine!!!

I'd take it but if you wanna play real, NO, I don't think Cleveland will give up LeBron for anything unless he was a complete flop last year.

Take it if you wanna have a good team but don't take it if you want it more realistic.

i am one gamers who like to play the games to be as realistic as possible. about your trade, anybody would say its an unrealistic trade. no way cavs will give up their future.

but it still up to you.

i was never one for trying to keep the trades realistic, thats for ea's programmer to do. for me i am gonna try to build the best team possible. if you can get lebron then by all means get him, i know i will try.

I usually keep trades pretty realistic too. I feel kinda dirty if i rip off another team :) And then if my team gets too good I get bored. I like facing up against good players on other teams.

I also like to keep my trades realistic, except for my 04 dynasty where i just blew up and now have a lineup of bosh, araujo, james, rashard and vince. But when I get 05 im gonna keep xtremely realistic by only dealing 3 players for expiring big contract. Alvin, Lamond and Palacio, for hopefully Kerry Kittles. Actually, thats not very realistic for the Clippers. Never mind.

I wouldn't do it anyway cause Kirilenko is a better defender and in Arroyo you have a good/ solid PG. Try to add pieces around the nucleus and build through th draft for a year or two. Keeping your core guys and cap money then see who will be available in the next two years.

Im not saying that I want Lebron on my team really, Im just saying that in my dynasty it IS an
option that I have, and its something that wouldnt happen in real life.
So Im debating doing it, I really lilke Kirilenko, but Lebron is really fun to play with. So whatever, we'll see what works out.

I'm the one who in Live 2004 dynasty mode always releases all players under 55 and sign free agents, use them to get 60p players and use them to get 70 players, have a killer 99 rated team and live over the salary cap for the whole dynasty.

I don't play very realistic.

I mean, if I can get a good player like that, heck....I do it!

thats what i am saying james. if you can get a player then go for it, its up to the comp to reject the offer. madden got it really good(never played 2005 franchise so i refer to 2004) where you can just sign a bunch of lower rated players only to trade them for a superstar. some guys you need an insane amount to get. they take into account everything where nba live only takes into account rateings. they need to have live where they take age, contract $$$, contract length, position, need for the position you are tradeing them, depth at all positions involved in the trade, how good the player is inrelation to everyone else at his position(this is big in madden). all these things would make tradeing alot better.

anyway i am still up in the air. i usually do 3 things when starting a dynasty. 1- i trade away everyone for 1 year players and rebuild(keeping stars of course).2- i trade away everyone i can and try to get the rookies(again keeping the main 1-2 stars if possible). or 3- trade most of my players trying to land that 1 mega star and build around him.

i dont think i will do 3 so i am kinda stuck between 1 and 2. i know i wont leave the team as is so there will be some moves. right now i am leaning towards the rebuilding around pierce idea, and maybe grab howard or some other rookies also. one thing i do love to do in madden is stock up on draft picks. i hope live is better this year so you can actually trade picks. hmm i gotta ask someone that.

The best and only trade I've done in dynasty is with the real Bulls is I traded Antonio Davis to Charolette for Jahadi White. It was a salary cap related move.

If you really want to play with LeBron and you really want to play realistic, then why dont you just make a Cavs dynasty instead.

just ask yourself this:
in last years LIVE would you have attempted to trade Odom, Butler and Grant for Shaq? or would you have thought it was UNREALISTIC?
trades happen...its part of the NBA, no-one is untradeable and to that extent i will always keep an open mind when trading in the game.

i never try to rip off the CPU..and even with the free agent bug last year i didnt abuse that. in the end its all up to whatever you want to do with the game...if you wanna have all the stars (and the CPU lets you have them) -then go for it. If not, dont...

I wil use the Nets but I'm not trading Kidd, unless he suffers another injury or plays poorly I will keep him.

And if I do trade him it won't be for a second round pick and a 37 overall (although I think you were being sarcastic, and everyone should know why ).

But it is funner to start with a bad team and see how long it takes to become a title contender, and I think Kidd and Jefferson is a good start.

When Jalen Rose got hurt, i tryed to trade and him most teams said they dont want an injured player. So if you want to trade Kidd it better to trade him when he's not hurt.

Yeah, I don't think NBA Live will let you offer injured players in trades.

LOL, that actually made me laugh. I actually have mixed feelings on keeping trades realistic. Even if I get a dreamteam I still don't get bored, I actually get more into it. I remember in Live '03 I had like the ten best players in the game and was still totally into it. But now I've grown to keeping things real and challenging. That being said, I still might try to rip off the computer here and there  .

i just use a few basic rules when tradeing and anything outside of these rules is fair game for me. 1. i cant go and sign a bunch of free agents just to trade them. if i sign a free agent i make myself keep him for atleast 1 season(or til the season ends if i sign him mid way). 2. any time i make a trade whoever i receive inreturn i use for atleast the rest of the season. this prevents me from makeing a trade and turning around and trading again just to abuse the computer.

basicly these are the only 2 rules i make myself follow. i have noticed in live and past maddens that you could just sign the best free agents, usually at min deals, and turn around and trade 3 of them for 1 good player. this is the easiest way to cheat the comp imo so i force myself to use any free agents for atleast 1 season(sure i could even exploit this rule but why would i if i made it up?).

Those are some good rules. That way you can still get the better of the computer here and there, but it prevents "dreamteamaritis." I'll follow these two rules in my franchise too :D .
