2K17 MyTeam Portrait Question

Sun Mar 15, 2020 2:00 pm

Curious if anyone will ever end up seeing this thread...

I am trying to extract some portrait files from 2k17 with the explorer tool. There were some portraits, more specifically the 1992 Dream team (https://2kmtcentral.com/17/collections/ ... ional-team) in MyTeam that I want the files for. I only have the launch day version of the game because I purchased it only recently after the servers went down. The Dream Team wasn't added until around November 2016. I am curious if someone has a more updated version of the game and can see (or send me a newer patch file) if those portrait files were added to the game file directory. :bowdown2:

Whereabouts are the portraits normally located? I can take a look the archives and see if I can find anything.

I was looking in the 0K archive. I stopped seeing new portrait files in the 9800s

I'll take a look.

Thanks! I'm not overly confident that they added the MyTeam portraits as the game continued, but I appreciate you taking the time to find out

Nothing above the 9800s in 0K or any other archives, as far as I can see. There are new portraits that I'm assuming were added post-release, such as Steve Nash's (since he got re-added to the rosters after launch). If there's any other ID numbers for the players you can suggest, I can take a look.

I have a feeling they started to go the route of hosting the card art files over the servers for added cards then. Im not sure what the ID numbers would be. I just assume they have added them in the late 9000s

That's quite likely. I just thought if they perhaps matched the IDs of the Dream Team in the default roster, I might be able to track them down easier. For example, the new portraits for Steve Nash that are in other archives have numbers that are below the 9800s. I think you're probably right about the card art being stored server side, though.

It’s a bummer because I really wanted those portraits haha. I only have the Dream Team on Xbox because that was the platform that I preordered the game on. I guess I could always edit my own portraits but they take so long. It is possible they are found in the lower numbers, but I wouldn’t want to send you in some chase with no direction. Would you perhaps be able to send me your manifest.txt file and then I could compare the files from launch (the version I have) and yours? Might be a good way to spot the difference

I have spent some time to create my own for Jordan. Holding out hope for the other portraits, it takes so much time to edit these manually lol

Doesn’t look like there were any distinct differences between the files. I appreciate you doing that!

No problem. A shame nothing turned up, but confirmation that a bunch of stuff is stored server side when it comes to MyTEAM.
