The running game is awful. Last year it was too easy to change direction, now it's far too difficult. Even last year when I needed a sharp cut I took my finger off turbo and exploded out of it. Can't do that anymore. I play all-pro and the passing is amazing. If you can run the right play and use play actions and pump fakes you can get corners biting and have big gains, but the secondaries closing speed is much better. They are frequently knocking down by out routes to Winslow the TE. But that run game sucks.

I play fantasy draft. I have Clinton Portis an o-line that is (left to right) 92-90-88-80-87 and a fb with a run block of 70-75. I was playing the Cards with a d-line of (l to r) 81-82-80-84 and lb of 84 or so with Shawn Barber at 93 the only good player in the front 7 (ROLB.) I bumped the sliders to 85 run blocking for the o, 70 rb ability, 35 break block for d, 40 tackle for them. My retarded O-line routinely misses blocks (my last game my rt turned around, faced the qb, and pushed the lineman into Portis) and safeties and corners are easily getting past blocks from my tackles tight ends and fullback. I average 3.6 a carry. Last year Clinton averaged 5.5. This is insane. 2004 had a great running game if you put the tackle for the d up to 60 and d awareness to 75-80.

One more point, not only do you change direction slower, the d changes direction faster. If only one of those happened it would be great. I also figure EA thinks they can get away from this by telling us to use 'protect ball.' "Fear the d?" More like "Fear your retarded offensive line."

I love playing defence though. I routinely draft a really fast, young defence with one older player in with the linebackers and secondary (eg. Brock Marion, Brentson Buckner.) However playing defence is still quite easy. Even though my analog and d-pad is slightly messed up and I can't call any defensive audibles that involve pressing down or up.

Franchise. It's stellar. I love how e-mail puts everything in one easy to access area. Radio is really cool, especially when players or coachers get on it. My one grief is that teams still draft two great players at a one player position. For example in this 'chise the Cards have Chad Pennington and Aaron Brooks and the 49ers have Michael Vick and Jake Delhomme. One other thing that happens sometimes that is a little annoying is that if a team has two good right end's or w/e and a shit left end, one of the good players backs up right end instead of switching to left end. This problem isn't as bad as it was last year though.

I realized one of my problems, my d-pad is responding poorly and when I'm pressing down all the way it acts like it's only pressed down 3/4 of the way so I run slower. I need a new one since I'm not going to use some piece of shit analog for player movement. If you don't think the o-line is worse you must be playing a different game. Especially if you think passing is too easy. I don't see how it's possible to not have your line continually screw up using the Rams. Especially if you ever rush to the shitty right side of your line. No Turley = no chance of running.

There is a problem with my pad, I tried using the analog for movement and I did go noticeably faster, but analog's suck for player movement and mine also curves in and is hella uncomfortable. I used teh analog for one running drill and my thumb was starting to get sore so I'm not using that.

i got madden for my xbox, and i'm a tad disapointed in the fact that i just cant get a game with realistic stats. Both me and my oponent pass for way too many yards, and my oponent never runs enough and theres just way too much scoring. If i play with less time, my defensive takles, stats, etc arent very realistic. Madden added a bunch of new features which just werent needed (create-a-fan, i mean, come on?), but the game just wont reach its full potential until they fix the game pace....

this game is pretty dope
way better than last year, the running is alot harder than 04
the defense is the bomb as well,i'd give this game a 9/10 ratin

The defense is so dam annoying. I just want to throw my monitor on the ground when they make the plays they couldn't in 2004.

But I adjusted some sliders so it's not as hard but I still lose the majority of my games, although I am in a franchise with the Bengals.

And I HATE THE KICKING! I made only two extra points all together. It is so hard to kick, all my kickoffs go out of bounds. I keep trying and trying to learn how to kick but it is so dam hard.

But overall the game is awesome, graphics, gameplay, presentation, AI. I couldn't be happier (unless you could get the computer to kick for you )

I got a new more repsonsive controller (logitech dual action) and running is much better. I still get stuffed a lot (especially on counters.) Although it is easier to break a big run if there's a hole. Hell I ran for 32 on one carry with James Stewart. It is impossible to get better than a bronze on all-madden rb drill.
