With the exception of a song or two I really didn't like 2004's soundtrack either. I did however, love 2003's. I pulled out '03 and played a few games just to put the new Live in retrospective and I was pleasantly surprised with the music. Anyone know if XBox users can have custom soundtracks? Madden can...

I completely agree with that, Silky Smooth!

Sauru, good point. I'm not a big rap fan, but I think EA is assuming that (or after marketing research) found that the majority of Live gamers listen to rap. It's kind of like NHL, where it's all rock (correct me if I'm wrong).

You're right Vlads, all rock on the NHL soundtrack. I understand whole heartedly people who feel there should be more diversity music wise, but I'm sure EA Canada has done extensive research and found that all Hip Hop is the way to go. Hey, doesn't bother me in the least.....

Sauru wrote:what a shitty soundtrack. its to bad that the soundtrack couldnt be anything like gtasa's. they were smart to mix it up and they got far bigger names than live did. madden is also smart enough to mix up the music a bit. i see people have said rap and basketball go hand in hand but thats not true. is it mostly true? yeah i would say that but do you honestly think everyone who likes basketball likes rap?

You're missing the point.

Im pretty sure EA knows that everyone who plays Live doesnt listen to rap. The point....the fact that YOU CANT disprove....is that Hip Hop and Basketball period...tie hand in hand with each other. Hip Hop Culture IS a part of the game and has been that way for quite some time...whether you like it or not.

If I go out and buy NHL 2005....should I be mad because there was no rap in it? No....because Hip Hop and Hockey dont have anything to do with each other.

First off...why would you compare Grand Theft Auto to a sports game? GTASA is CENTERED around the early 90's in a game that has an impact from more than one culture.

Second...MADDEN has a diverse soundtrack...because thats reality. Football and Hip Hop dont embrace each other like Basketball and Hip Hop does....so of course its going to be different.

Has nothing to do with marketing....its simply just the way it is.

i believe i said in my post that i agree that rap and basketball go together, well mostly true i think my exact words were. they dont fully go hand in hand. saying that they fully go together is wrong. if it was true then every single song they played in nba stadiums would be rap but they aint. if it was true then everyone who loved the game of basketball would listen to rap, which aint true. dont get me wrong i am not sitting here hateing on rap, i have nothing against it, infact i like alot of it. i am one of those people who can listen to pretty much any form of music, and i mean any(even country though most new country has hip hop tones).

brings me to my next point, the songs they picked suck. they songs in 2004 were not much better at all. EA Sports is the biggest name in video game sports so you think they could pull a few better artists. i referred to gta earlier. that was unfair. gta is the most popular console game ever so comparing the 2 was wrong. singers basicly beg to be in that game now so they have it alot easier. still i think live could have bagged a couple better songs.
