Aged about as well as Bobby Portis' Tweet about the Bulls.

Such a crazy first day of free agency and Kawhi hasn't even made his decision yet.
Mon Jul 01, 2019 3:17 pm
As someone on Twitter said, he was supposed to be the first domino, and it appears he'll be the last.
Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:32 pm
Lakers and Clippers still have the room to sign him. Looks like it's going to be either one of them or Toronto at this point.
The D'Angelo Russell deal is kind of strange to me. It's almost like the Warriors just did it for the sake of getting a good asset cheaply. How does he fit in with Curry? (and also Klay when he returns from injury)
_C: Bogut?
PF: Draymond
SF: Klay
SG: Russell
PG: Curry
Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:07 pm
It'd be great if Kawhi stayed in Toronto, though it's looking like he's heading to the Lakers.
Agreed on D'Angelo Russell. It doesn't look like a fit on paper.

utah making some good moves
GSW found someone other than Curry to bomb away. DAR has a terrible FT rate but a very solid midrange game. some positive signs he'll fit right in in the GSW scheme. shame a key player during the great GSW run in Iggy was just unloaded to make it happen
if that Butler move to Miami happens, Philly's return on it and the horford signing should make them the early favorite in the East

What makes you say he's headed to the Lakers? Is he waiting for the Davis deal to get done so they'll have the space to sign him?
Tue Jul 02, 2019 3:36 am
That's the current chatter. Maybe it's idle speculation that's being exaggerated by journalists and talking heads, but that's the story making the rounds.

Is it just me or is New York just ridiculously overpaying for a bunch of mediocre free agents? (Outside of Randle)
The Russell deal I agree is a head scratcher. The rumor is that he's going to get flipped for someone they like better. I'm assuming a swingman since the PG spot is kind of taken already
Tue Jul 02, 2019 7:51 am
I always thought an ideal spot for Russell would be a super sixth man on a contender like when IT first came off the bench for the Celts.
And yes, the New York thing is ridiculous.

Sounds like Leonard to the Lakers is closer than most people think
Tue Jul 02, 2019 12:54 pm
They aren't the worst free agent moves the Knicks have made - the Isiah Thomas era brought us gems like Jerome James' big contract - but having missed out on the top tier players, they are making moves just to make moves, overpaying along the way. Randle is a great get, though.

Wow.
So Kawhi signs with the Clippers and gets them to trade for Paul George too.
Per Woj:
Free agent forward Kawhi Leonard has informed runners-up teams of his plans: He's signing with the Clippers, league sources tell ESPN.
Oklahoma City is trading All-Star Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers for a record-setting collection of draft choices, league sources tell ESPN.
Sources: Oklahoma City is getting a massive package of future picks, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Galllinari, to deliver Kawhi Leonard who he wanted to partner with: Paul George.
Kawhi Leonard has been recruiting Paul George to find a way to get to the Clippers and LA pulled it off tonight: George goes to the Clippers with Leonard, and together they walk into Staples Center to go head-to-head with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
After Leonard pushed George to find a way to get to the Clippers, Paul George approached the team and requested a trade, league sources tell ESPN. OKC was left with no choice and made the best out of a difficult situation, per sources.
The Clippers are sending the Thunder four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick and two pick swaps, league sources tell ESPN. Those picks go to OKC with Gallinari and SGA.

Wow, unbelievable
Sat Jul 06, 2019 5:11 pm
A big win for parity. Dynamic duos around the league heading into the new season.
Sat Jul 06, 2019 6:09 pm
Clippers are betting huge that both Kawhi and PG stay healthy and win them at least 1 title.
Sam Presti is gonna have some fun with all these picks, even if they all end up being late first rounders

Weren't there rules on how far on advance you can trade picks? Let's just trade my 2048 first round pick to get a superstar
Sat Jul 06, 2019 7:19 pm
I believe it's seven, so they've given up picks for the maximum stretch allowed.
Sat Jul 06, 2019 8:10 pm
I knew he wanted Clippers in his heart; why else would they've been in the running.
Sun Jul 07, 2019 3:50 am
Before the season started, before he won a championship in Toronto, I thought clippers were a foregone conclusion. The championship plus Lakers max slot complicated things and gave him way more leverage and he got Paul George as a result
Sun Jul 07, 2019 4:40 am
I remember Clippers were considered as a frontrunner for the whole year. The trade looks legit for Clippers as they will gamble with 2 superstars who are on their prime, unlike the case that Nets had in 2012 where they exchanged their future with aging stars.
Only unfortunate transaction is the departure of Shai. He is one heck of a potential.
Sun Jul 07, 2019 6:33 am
Cousins to the Lakers, McGee and Rondo are staying put as well.
Tue Jul 09, 2019 12:52 am
leonard now early favorite for GM of the year!
there is some cruel irony there in lakers fans being able to watch George and Leonard in their own stadium but wearing a different jersey
Presti did a good job in landing all those draft picks (unprotected!). westbrook jerseys should be going on sale soon
Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:55 pm
Where's the widespread indignation for Kawhi for 'recruiting' and convincing Paul George to ask OKC for a trade to the Clippers? If LeBron pulled that stunt there's guaranteed hysteria from his media critics again...
Kawhi reportedly tried to recruit any of Durant, Kyrie, and Jimmy Butler before settling for Paul George. Where's the articles and think pieces that lament how Kawhi isn't a competitor and leader for wanting to team up with other all-stars?
Butler-Westbrook backcourt is going to be the best petty and trash talking duo in the NBA.
The thing that makes him special is... he'll never give up on you. Ever.

Pistons reportedly another team in wanting to trade for Westbrook.
Tue Jul 09, 2019 7:33 pm
I assume Westbrook and Butler would only be teammates for a season in Miami, at which point Butler asks for a trade.
