Hey Guys!
This is a stupid question, but I know we need to back up the .exe file. Is this just a simple "copy and paste" of the .exe file (not the desktop shortcut) and save it in backups folder?

you have to copy .exe and user folder (remote)
but there's no need to do that on PC.
With Steam CLI, you can go back to any version.

Thanks for the info, but I thought this was done on 2K18, to combat changes made when the game was patched ?

In 2k18 I pretty much made a .exe backup folder and made numbered subfolders for each version and everytime a new patch came out I copied and pasted that .exe into the numbered subfolder matching the patch number.

Same, I did it for 2K17 as well.
Will be doing it for 2K19.

It still works, because its a Steam trick.
Check steamdb, all manifests and versions
