Demo Impressions Thread

Anybody else think that the auto-substitutions need some tweaking? For instance, I've never seen Semi Ojeleye substituted in for Boston from the couple of games that I've played. In fact, I had to manually sub in Ojeleye to help defend Durant towards the second half since auto subs wouldn't do so.

Also, the second half starts with bench players on the floor at times (Smart has started the second half many times automatically). This is unrealistic, it should be the starting 5 that's starts the second half.

Also, this game could strongly benefit from a "camera relative" dribble option. If you are on broadcast view and on the top part of the screen, the dribble stick is absolute, so it's tough when you are used to the option you have in 2K.

I'm putting together a gameplay video, after I will probably tweet out about this.

Animations for post shots are the same for all players, which is very disapointing. Even Live 08 for the PS3 had some signature post fadeaways, and that game was released more than a decade ago.

Anyway, graphics are impressive. Commentary is awful. Really PS2-ish in my opinon.

Still not sure if I will buy this game. Need to know more about franchise and roster/player editing.

Listen to the crowd, the defense chants, how they react to plays, etc. Which is why I say the atmosphere is not dead. Also, the lighting and overall broadcast graphics add to the fact that the gameplay overall doesn't feel dead.

Agreed about the post game. It also goes for the dribbling. Not enough of a signature feeling (players blend in together a bit much).

obviously live has a ways to go, but if they keep up the pace they can surely pass up 2k very soon. the gameplay flows so much better than 2k's and it just looks so much more natural. sucks that it's for console only and doesn't have the collection of retro teams that 2k does.

In the demo, atmosphere is locked at regular season instead of finals like it was last year. Sure, the crowd isn't crazy but let's see playoffs atmosphere in the full version

I dunno how many real great post players there are left in the league. Not sure if it's worth it to build a library of post move animations over say signature shot animations. Maybe Julius Randle post moves? Looks like they have a new Embiid sweeping hook shot in the game.

Courts and crowd are darker than on 2K18

I saw brightness & constrast sliders, perhaps it can be fixed.

The player models look good, and the body proportion is on point unlike 2k18 with a lot of players having big heads and disproportionate body parts.

Just a question, is there a way to re-play the 3 on 3 game with Iverson, Vince Carter and Shaq? Thanks.

Interesting "unscripted moments" I've had: Draymond Green blocks a shot near the rim and he hits it off the heel of the rim and it flies up off the backboard into the air.

I had a „moment” with Draymond going out of bounds and knocking down a camera man

Not the golden state court, and the Celtics court itself may be an overall darker shade but it's overall more accurate, with reflections, and not washed out (it has life). And, the reflections and overall court graphics and court lighting is better in Live 19. The OVERALL graphics don't feel as washed out, they have more life to them. The league isnt saturated with oversized heads, either. Are we going to ignore the fact that you tried to attack me with sarcasm saying that the crowd was dull or the atmosphere was dead, and I proved that wrong with my gameplay video? Also, you said "watched", do you own the demo? Did you download it yourself and try the game? Have you seen the game for yourself on your own tv?

Anybody in here other than Sticky with alterior motives going to disagree with me on that?

Sticky, stay on topic and cut it out. I've given 10+ things that Live 19 needs improvement on, and the overall graphical presentation is one that I am satisfied with.

But about dark courts and crowd, i'm not trolling (you) : i really find them too dark. Broadcast cam seems to have a sort of black haze effect, and Boston arena lighting is not like the real one, and even darker than 2K18.

I dont have a console so my opinions are from watching YT streams.

I have no problem with you expressing your opinions. I have a problem with the sarcasm, attacks, and eye rolls that accompany it. You have stated in the past that you use those to show when you are being sarcastic, or showing emotion in general. No need of that, at all. It makes your comments look childish, and gives off the alterior motive vibe (which is why they exist).

If you have a compatible console, download the demo and try the game yourself. That way you can see it and feel it for what it actually is.

And again, cut out the unnecessary crap in your posts. It hurts the flow of threads, and all it does is annoy people.

The real life celtics court has very little reflections. If you claim it is more accurate, at least glance at the real life celtics court/stadium.

NBA 2k18 Celtics - crowd looks same as live 19 .... I would say live 19 took 2k18 crowd and upgraded the floor. in my opinion. Actually.... 2k18 Crowd might be a tad brighter than live 19.. so, thus, live 19 crowd is darker than 2k18 crowd.

EDIT: 2k18 modded - here is my celtics court with whatever mods i have (really no idea what's in my modded folder and who made what) Just wondering what my modded celtics court looked like compared to the rest of them


EDIT2: 2k18 modded picture 2 - hmmm..... not sure who made above Celtic floor mod. I drag and drop usually. I play the jazz in franchise.... we don't make it back east too often. Anyways, here is MRK326 Celtic Floor mod.... just for reference compared to the others.

anyways, it is definitley better graphics than live 18. But it looks like they just put a dark filter over live 19. And both nba2k18 / 2k19 / live 18 / live 19 look nothing like Rea life Celtics court.

of course, raytracing will fix all that. i'll still make a post about next gen console graphics, which look like it will contain microsofts dxr (direct x raytracing framework.)

I find nothing sarcastic about sticky - fingers. the crowds look very dark. and compared to real life celtics, neither game is anything close. If you are going to "analyze" the darkness of 2k18 crowd, then please hold live 18 and live 19 to the same darkness metric. nba live 19 crowd looks very similar to 2k18 crowd. (the nba live celtics floor looks good, even if the floor color is too dark)

In regards to lighting/atmosphere/and realistic loom and feel, NBA Live 19 wins in that regard, I stand by that. The court color is not perfect, I stated it was dark, but overall the graphics are more appealing and lively.

And Sticky, you staying that because I like the demo you guys can't say anything is ridiculous. I have given SO MANY critiques about the game already, I have stated how much room for improvement exists, so that's just another comment in a line of comments that are flaming with no backing.

Bongo did a solid job with screenshot comparisons. But, the rest of the crap (and crap sticky pulled and continues to) is unnecessary and is obviously an attack on me, and has to do with history more than present. In this thread itself I have agreed with a couple critiques of the game (broadcasting as well as post game). So the statement about me liking the demo and you guys not being able to say anything is complete bullshit. It's the way you go about it!!!

It's possible for Boston's court to be fixed in a patch. In Live 18, the Wells Fargo Center had a lighter shade of blue early on, but a patch later darkened the blue.

Something that stuck out to me was Green and Durant making threes and fading back into the Boston bench and Boston players trying to hold them back/push them away; have we ever gotten on-court players legit interacting with benches during play?

This is where I'm at right now; it'll probably be mid-cycle purchase whenever I feel like taking a break from 2K, as usual.

It's certainly possible. I may tweet the image out at the devs with the real life vs video game comparison.

The quality of it is good, but the color is off.

put some edits on my post.... 2k18 mod court and i put the wrong link to the raytracing stuff.

I was just able to get my Elgato HD60 to work with my PS4 (had to go get the USB input).

So, the rest of my gameplay videos will be at 1080p@60fps. I'm pumped about that.
