Best buzzer beater game winner?

Postby courtside on Thu Sep 02, 2004 7:20 am

I was Orlando Magic, other guy was Boston..

He just made a shot to go up by 1..it was one of those lucky shots that you know is computer assisted...anyways I have the ball down 1 with 2.8 seconds to go...i call timeout to sub in my main ballers:

Dwight
Garrity
Augmon
HEdo
Francis

I wasn't sure weather to use francis or stevenson because francis health was down to 30% but i knew francis plays with more heart so i think the computer is kinda realistic in that aspect....anyways... 2.8 to go...when i press start... my guys francis is ALL the way on the other side and trapped..so i have to run around before the 5 second violation. then i get the ball wayyyy out and there are a bunch of his guys blocking my way..i do a sick crossover, the other guys fall... with .1 second to go shoot....it spins around the hoop...!!!!

IT GOES IN!!

:)

thats my best buzzer beater game winner story:)

I just have to post this.

i am watching this CPUvsCPU game between the 2004 Detroit Pistons and the 1971 Milwaukee Bucks (how in the world i have these teams long story) on my PS2

Anyway, the Pistons were leading all the way. Led by Sheed's 20 1st half pts they lead by double digits all the way as high as 18.

Then the Bucks made a strong (CPU-assisted) 4th q run and tied the game at 104 with a little over a minute to go. They go backand fourth until Mcglocklin (Bucks SG) got open for a 3 and hit it. Bucks complete rally and lead by 3 less than a minute to go. 107-104 Bucks.

Sheed countered on the other end with a long jumper from the right corner and pushed the Pistons to within one pt

Its 107-106 Bucks. about 29 secs to go. The Bucks run down the clock and pass around the ball until The Big O (Robertson) finally shot a 3-pointer at the top of the key with about 4 secs left when BEN WALLACE rushed in to the perimeter and BLOCKED THE SHOT!

NO TIMEOUTS WERE CALLED BY DETROIT!!! Still Bucks 107-106.

BEN WALLACE JOGS DOWN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT AND FIRES A 3-POINTER AT THE TOP AS THE TIME EXPIRED AND THE SHOT ----IN' WENT IN!

Pistons win 109-107.

It was so hilarious! :)

anyway, they still won the game. Pistons were led by Hamilton with a whopping 41-pts (he really flourished in that MOTION offense) 6 rebs 4 assts, Sheed had 29. Ben finished with 12 pts 12 rebs and 4 blks. Billups only ha 9 pts but 12 assists.

Mcglocklin led the Bucks with 27, Big O had a bad shooting night finishing with 15 pts (5-29 FG) with 11 assists. Alcindor bothered by foul-trouble finished with 19 pts and 14 boards, Lucius Allen had 19pts off the bench.

I was playing a 12 minute quarter game with my brother. Reggie Miller was making tons of threes, but in 4th quarter he had entered a slump and started missing all his shots. I was losing by two points (forgot the exact score) and then with 3 seconds left I passed to reggie and he shot over a defender, doing that leaning shot. It seemed unlikely, but it went in! It's so satisfying to win a 12 minute quarter game like that.
Bored.

Somewhat obssessive, but ...

It's not exactly a buzzer-beater, but it's close and a huge shot:

I'm a big Rockets fan and there are certain classic games from their two championship playoff runs that I love to recreate and play in Live.

Right after the Rockets got knocked out in the first round last season, I recreated Game 7 of the 95 Western Conf. semis vs. Barkley's Suns. This was the game won by Mario Elie's "Kiss of Death" back-breaking three, and it's one of my top five favorite basketball games ever.

See the real thing: http://www.nba.com/0001Video/elie_3ptkiss_052095.avi

Using a tape of the real game as a guide, I played the whole way, substituting players when Rudy T subbed guys in the real game. The computer's subsitution for the Suns was semi-close to Phoenix's, so I was able to keep the pc game reasonably similar to the real one.

After much saving and restoring to alter conditions, I set up the big play and was able to make it happen almost exactly right on my second try. It felt really good to sink that trey from the corner with 7 left on the clock. The computer even called timeout exactly like Phoenix did in the real game. After trading fouls shots the rest of the way, Rockets win 115-114.

I've also tried this (with much more effort) with Game 3 of the 94 NBA Finals, but I had trouble setting up Sam Cassell's actual buzzer-beating 3 to win over the Knicks. It took me an hour and a half of restoring and replaying to get the damned sequence to go right. It was much more frustrating than the Phoenix game.

KG turnaround 8 footer at the buzzer, over bowen and turkoglu.. doesnt sound much but the game itself was a blast.. i was up 20, then down 20 then caught up in the final 6 minutes.. it was pretty much a shootout. tony parker killed me w/ threes though :(
