Player Training

Postby VlaDiv on Fri Sep 17, 2004 9:37 am

Important Question: Can you improve guys ratings only in the training camp offseason or can you do it all year? I don't mean hiring coaches for 5 games, I mean permanent increases. If you can do it during the season, I will be playing out every game 12 mins quarters! LET ME KNOW OK.

Because I don't think you get many points when you sim, right? Oooh maybe you get all the points if you play 4th quarter only! haha.

Wouldn't it be awesome if players actually got better/worse based on the stats that you get with them. It's all so random. If I do really well with a rookie his ratings should have a better chance of going up then if he rides the pine all season long. Maybe in '06 :D .

pretty good ideas (Y) , but if you ball hogged it with one player every game and got all the stats with him than sooner or later he would have perfect ratings

I understand your argument. In fact I actually thought that for a while and that kept me from liking this idea. But they could limit it to a certain extent. Like every player could have a maximum increase rate. So certain guys would get better, and others wouldn't improve all too much even if you broke Wilt's single game scoring record.

It woudl be great if they took "team ball" into account also, so the only way you could truly advance is to share the rock. Maybe for the cpu to compare shot attempts to assists and to determine it from that. That would keep things balanced and make things interesting.

Yea, all good ideas.

I'd alos like to see individual form slumps and highs.... kinda like the hot and cold factors in NHL live. PLayers can get hot and cold depending on how they go in their last game... resulting in temporary higher or lower ratings.
Also team based form slumps and highs would be cool too. Maybe you need to get points and spend on a team psychologist to help them get over it... or minimise slumps.

The training does now increase players ratings for good now... And it only increases... But as the dynasty points are used in scouting as well, you don't have all the points to train your players to the max. And I believe that the owner will be pushing you to scout and train in a balance so in order to keep the owner happy you'll have to balance between these.

Sure you can play at the easiest difficulty level and play 12 minute quarters and get 200 points every game and 1000 dynasty points, but where's the fun in that??? This system does encourage to play a few games more in each season so that's good. I have usually played about 5-10 games a season just to keep the statistics from getting way off, but I guess I'll have to play more, just to get me more dynasty points to train and scout. It doesn't take that many games to get a feel for your players. So this is good. All good.

Well, we'll just have to wait to get to see what the game gives us. Sweet is the only thing that pops into mind about this game.

I play every single game in 82 game per season dynasty. IN 2004 i played 10 min quarters on superstar. I work out my play time based on realistic scores and stats :)

I think there should be a posibility for rookies to improve...because they should get better, like in real life....

Jase23, I've heard that EA added something similar to the hot/cold stuff during games. The only difference is that it's with clutch players. Like if there's 10 secs left in the 4th guys like Kobe and Miller have temporary stat increases while guys who tend to disappear in these situations have a temporary stat decrease.

now that would be cool and add alot to the game. as long as its nicely balanced so you can never make a shot at the end with a regular player and never miss one with kobe.

I think they might bring it back as a stat that won't be adjustable by the user, like primacy this year. But I hope there's some truth to what i posted before.
