But yes, redistributing original files is against the rules here at the NLSC viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2 but it is possible to regain original files without asking here.

I've used the Steam method 2 or 3 times and it works very well and quickly. Recommended for anyone who finds themselves in a bind.

I know rules are rules but why can't we post original files? Other sites like NBA Spot don't have rules about this.

Because it facilitates piracy. NBA Spot also goes all the way with that, allowing torrents of the games to be posted.

Does this still apply for versions of the game from several years ago? Specifically I'm chasing the art files from NBA Live 2005 and after having moved house 3 times since then, I'm unable to locate the discs anymore.

If there are some specific textures you'd like for patching purposes, that would be OK.

I have lost original Antonis Fotsis CF, listed as n 2582 in Armani Milano among Euroleague teams.
I didn't Know 2k had updated last year roster using his face also for Gigi Datome and Faverani too, I notice few moments ago googling about.
Two months ago I bought the game from one of my friends and downloaded Med's roster. I didn't like Datome CF (in Italy people know he's a good player and basketball fans generally love him), so when I found a good one on another site, I overwrited existing file assuming previous was only Datome's. I didn't check immediately at the time what's going on. But days ago I ran the game and opened Gigi profile, then I saw Med's roster CF for Gigi and WTF --- maybe Datome in Med's has a different ID...ooops...guess I didn't overwrite any NBA player! --- I checked at the time only NBA teams, it was everything ok, I didn't care more.
Since few hours ago, when I played as Armani Milano and Fotsis appeared on the court as the best Datome I've ever seen --->
I don't know if requesting this kind of help and someone posting original png2582.iff marks an infringement as described right there.
Simply I don't wanna reinstall the game in some folder or device, extract the file and delete everything. It could took me quite half an hour
I understand your point in case if it wasn't possible. Execptions aren't the best way to empower laws and rules generally.

That's what the tutorial video in this thread is for: restoring original files as painlessly as possible, as requesting original files is against the rules.

Very nice and informative tutorial, I can also suggest 2 things about this.

1. Copy into another folder all original files, better be safe than sorry. I love this game so much that I don't mind alloting another disk space for it.

2. I use a 3rd party software called Shadowmode where it protects specified folders of my computer from changes. All files in those folders goes back to original everytime I reboot my computer. That also gives me the opportunity to test any released beta mode of the game, all I have to do is reboot my computer if I don't like it. I also have kids at home, so accidetal delete or uninstall might happen. Just a disclaimer, there are a lot of softwares like that out there, so make sure you read first the pc reqts and other technical stuff about it before you install since compatibility issue might happen for some reason.

If anybody can give me the original file, just this one file, a cyberface file of Ben Wallace.. I just cant find any CF of him other than his afro look and I wasn't able to backup the original file as I didn't know at that time that there were these hidden CFs.. if anybody can help me please.. the file is png0035

If you know it's against the rules, don't do it in the first place. The first post spells things out pretty clearly.

I was having issues with just Quicken Loans arena and floor not showing up in games. I thought maybe to many mods installed or whatever. So I decided to uninstall the game and start fresh. I have the original copy of the CD and reinstalled. Still no arena and the LeBron video start up isn't there. The one from the modded game runs. Confused as to why this happens? Any suggestions.
