The Clippers look pretty legit. I thought they might sneak into the playoffs a la the post-Melo Nuggets. But they actually have a pair of all-stars. It would be pretty funny if the Clippers beat the Rockets in the second round to keep CP3 out of the WCF.

Blake has been amazing, but we'll see if he can stay healthy this year...
Portland's... okay. I do think they'll make the playoffs. Won't be easy, with the consensus top 4 in the West, then LAC, Minnesota, Denver & Memphis, then Utah and NO also with some potential. Lillard and McCollum are great, but the defense just isn't good enough. Nurk has been quiet - not a huge surprise, but he seems to be the only chance this team has of really exceeding expectations so hopefully Nurkic Fever returns.

I talked a lot of shit on Blake and the clippers and how they were going to suck but man he has proved me wrong. He's dunking again like 2010 Blake but with new skills like the 3 point shot.
Makes me wonder where the hell this was last year
Sat Oct 28, 2017 6:58 am
No more Chris Paul to tell him where to be and what to do on offense, Blake's playing free.
Sat Oct 28, 2017 10:21 am
Griffin's play has been impressive early on. Stay healthy for the entire year is the next step.

As much I don't like Draymond, he has the right of it,
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do if someone hits you twice," Green told ESPN's Chris Haynes after the incident. "Man, you're taught as a kid not to allow that. What was I supposed to do?"
Also Kelly Oubre a bitch for this

Ironic, coming from Draymond who does the same shit to rile up opponents.

Pretty cool record.
Sun Oct 29, 2017 6:05 pm
Indeed. I wonder if any other players have recorded a triple-double against every other team that was in the league during their career.
Westbrook to Lakers confirmed, just to make it all 30 next season.

Thoughts on what made the dent in the OKC plane guys?
Mon Oct 30, 2017 6:50 am
Bird (Thunder plane)

Golf ball size hailstones.

Seems about right if the bird is one of those medium sized migratory birds that like to hang at airports.
Mon Oct 30, 2017 10:36 am
Less than ten games in, and we don't have any winless teams, nor any undefeated ones. Also, the Magic are at the top of the East, just like we all predicted.
Mon Oct 30, 2017 3:19 pm
Cavs possibly the worst team in the East even though LeBron is playing well, Clippers without CP3 not that bad, PG13 forgot how to play.
Boston in 6 vs Cavs in the ECF.

What I thought at first as well. But a bird @30,000 ft. in the night?
False, this was not a bird strike. Nose cone structural defect (either inherent or from a bungled repair, doesn’t matter) weakened until the force of the air caused it to fail and invert. It is very loud when it happens and it has occurred many times on passenger air craft.

Knicks beat Cavs, Pistons beat Warriors. Again, just as we all predicted.
Tue Oct 31, 2017 1:25 pm
And the Sixers just won in Houston. It's all happening.
Ben Simmons is one of only two players to average 18+ points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists per game this season. The other one is some guy named Westbrook.
Tue Oct 31, 2017 5:38 pm
Very promising. He'll need to lift his free throw shooting though, and a reliable outside shot wouldn't go astray. Still, a lot of talent there.

Rick Carlisle on Joel Embiid: “You have to be careful what you show in pregame edits, or you might scare the s— out of your team.”

Ben Simmons is playing like an allstar already and should definitely deserve it if he keeps it up. Kid seems to be a real deal.
Wed Nov 01, 2017 1:14 am
Unrelated, but I really like Lonzo Ball. Kid seems very mature and has potential. I couldn't care less about his father but, with someone major going to Lakers next year it's going to be interesting.

very impressive early returns. prolly a worse jump shot than giannis in his rookie year and is still able to produce
how about them orlando magic? caught by chance their game vs the nets but have watched their games since.

Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon are playing as confident as ever. It's nice to see Gordon show some consistency.
Can this be sustained? probably not... but check it out.
FG% so far through 7 games.
Evan Fournier - .545%
Nikola Vucevic - .555%
Aaron Gordon - .549% (5 games)
3P% so far through 7 games
Evan Fournier - .556% with 5.1 attempts per game
Nikola Vucevic - .406% with 4.6 attempts per game
Aaron Gordon - ..591% with 4.4 attempts per game (5 games)
Additionally, Simmons was a great pickup. He gives them energy and defense, along with his ability to score. I look at Simmons as an under control Lance Stephenson when he is on the floor.
So while I think they are overachieving right now, it's clear that they have some building blocks over in Orlando. Pretty impressive stuff so far.
Thu Nov 02, 2017 5:06 am
yes i agree its an unlikely % rate to continue. the attempts are key as they are a far cry from last years lane clogging lineup
augustin has been good filling in but i'm interested to see payton with a lineup full of shooters.
Thu Nov 02, 2017 5:30 pm
Another near triple-double for Simmons. Three straight wins for the Sixers and they're actually .500 now.
Thu Nov 02, 2017 6:31 pm
Quite the exclamation point to cap off his performance.

Just finished watching Blazers vs Lakers, what a great game to watch.
Nurkic and Lopez going at it was a pleasure to watch. Both guys put it all out on the floor. Kuzma has all the tools to be a special player, his game is mature for his age as well. He was yelling at Lonzo Ball on a couple plays because Ball was out of place on the floor. Ball did... well.. nothing. He dribbled passed halfcourt and passed it off. He also got burned over, and over again in the pick n roll and just in general by Lillard.
I want the Blazers to establish Nurkic more early, his ability to score the ball is supremely underrated. He has maybe the best touch for a big in the league. Watching him off the ball, he is constantly setting screens, constantly pointing where people should be, constantly communicating on D. Just really fun to watch him play.
I'm a Celtics fan, but the Blazers are one of my favorite teams in the NBA. Caleb Swanigan gave them good minutes, he could have had 6 to 8 more points if he had gone up right off the catch though instead of throwing so many pump fakes. Growing pains I guess, Kendrick Perkins did the same thing with the Celtics in his early years, and he would either be stripped or blocked. Evan Turner looked slightly more comfortable, but when he is not the primary ball handler... he's kind of lost. In Boston, he would be in as the primary ball handler for the second unit (and he thrived), but the Blazers always have CJ or Lillard in, it's at all times. So he is always sharing PG duties with someone. I'd like to see them work in more shots for Turner in the mid range, but he is seldom used to his strengths in Portland.
Great game though, glad I stayed up and watched it.
