Why we Love Sport as we do?

Thu Sep 09, 2004 4:48 pm

Hello, I am longtime fan of dynasty and live. Game is great fun but I wonder why play so long like I do
I want every person who read this to think deeply about meaning of sport.
Is just fun? Is competition? Prove you are the best? Why go see sport and write about it? Why talk about this player is good, this team signed this old scrub, and so on, what's it mean to you?

Because athletes inspire us with their greatness!

And playing games is a great way of living out sporting fantasies!!

What the hell does this have to do with NBA Live General Issues??????

The game is a passage way into a game that we could never play in real life... A way to get on the NBA courts to do your kind of damage. Even create yourself into a team and trying out how you'd possibly do when playing with the big boys.

It's a great way to kill time... As that is one of the main things games are created for... I love the games that suck a player in so that you don't know what day it is when you eventually stop playing it... I just love those games.

I play in real life as well and when you watch these guys go at it in the NBA and see what they can do and it just inspires me to go at it even harder in real life. I am just awe struck at times when someone pulls off something incredible on the court and somehow even after seeing all these plays and all these moves there's always something new to learn and do. When it comes to basket ball, even the sky can't limit these guys. Basket ball is a great sport where you can never be too good and there's always something you could do better.

I'd love to play in a real NBA game one day, but there's no chance of that ever happening... Even to step on the court for the last minute of a game when there's a 30 point difference would be great. I would probably die right there and then. It would be such a dream, just getting on the court with the best there is.

NBA Live is the stuff that dreams are made of... I just can't say it any more simple than that...

To Carmo with wisdom I offer this - we play game but have to understand psychology of behavior. Philosophy, the reason, not just to have fun fun fun. People they have sex, yes? Is fun, no? But also reproduction. More people and more human race. I hope my English not awkward about this sex but my point being there is reason for what you do. NBA Live general issue is not just new sneakers to virtually buy. In nba store buy sneakers, so what that mean to you? I feel that greatness is good start. We all need to win, and be great ourself. It's wonderful to see community loving game and thought.

I thought it was an interesting question to ask, perhaps for the more mature gamers atleast. Not that I'm mature..... :)

Sex and hoops........ theres got to be a game in that concept. Perhaps EA can include groupies into NBA live. It'd be funny if you had a player out with like genital warts or some sh!t.

hehe.

Yeah that might be funny. What do you think about career-ending injuries put into live? I don't they are there, I don't think so.

Career ending injuries would be interesting, but they'd have to be implemented properly. They could not be too random, would mostly have to occur to a player who is injury prone and in most cases would have to be the result of several injuries.

The same goes for permanent injuries. It would show a great level of detail if players who suffered a lot of injuries showed declining ratings outside of the year-to-year player development. A player who suffers a lot of leg and foot injuries might lose a lot of athleticism and jumping ability.

But it would have to be done properly. If it happened too randomly or too often, it wouldn't be realistic and would simply get frustrating after a while.

And also if they can have guys enter an early injury career decline arc, like grant hill... they should have guys who can maintain skill well past their "prime" like karl malone, 20 ppg at 39 is not possible for any player under NBA live 04 arc but it is in real life.

In madden (here I go again, I think I'm a broken record) tehy implemented career enders very well. In at least 50 simulated seasons I have seen one career ender. And that was to an old QB (Favre, 34 I think.)

If it happens once every 3-4 years I'm cool. Not any more than twice a year under any circumstance.

i love sports because it fun.

sports videgames = way of being your favorite athlete or living out your impossible childhod dreams.

watching sports = ultimate reality tv. only real Unscripted thing there is (well, except when there's gambling involved. cough:::webber:::cough).

playing sports = fun and good exercise.
