http://www.pastapadre.com/2017/04/05/ne ... next-monthAfter a decade absent of arcade-style basketball on consoles 2017 will offer at least two games that fit that mold. The unlicensed free-to-play 3on3 Freestyle released earlier this year and now there’s also one to look forward to that features NBA licensing and both current and legendary players with NBA Playgrounds. The game will release as a $20 digital download in May on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Nice! I actually played a bit of 3on3 out of sheer desperation for anything Street like

These are the people who where supposed to make shaq fu. My hopes just sank incredibly for this game in a matter of seconds.

Awesome news, as it definitely looks promising. I'm probably more partial to Jam than Street, but I do like the Street series as well, and this looks like it could be a good hybrid of the two concepts. I'm tempering my expectations somewhat and not expecting it to be as good as its predecessors from EA and Midway, but I hope it turns out alright. Perhaps it'll revitalise interest in the arcade basketball scene, and we'll get some more Jam and Street titles, too.
And hey, a PC release. Maybe we'll be able to mod it!

I second this, blown away by the art style.

I hope Tim Kitzrow was invited to this project.

Reminds me a little bit of Super Mega Baseball the way the players are sort of caricatures of themselves.

This is going to give us an idea of how much demand there is for basketball games on the switch. The response seems to be very positive especially from the Nintendo community so that's a good sign.

While I have super low expectations, I really hope this is good.

A few gameplay clips

Looks like you can add Chauncey Billups and Jason Kidd(i think?) to the list of historic players. Also looks like you aren't stuck with picking players from 1 team.

This looks nice, but I dislike the big heads, Maybe I could change them...

This roster is much deeper than I thought it would be. Ray Allen, Shawn Kemp, and Mitch Richmond shown. I do hope that Westbrook face gets fixed though.

Kemp on the Cavs...interesting choice.

Looks like players on their 1997 teams.
But then Kidd & Chauncey earlier on teams from 2007/2008.
I think we could be looking at squads or legends grouped into specific years.

I wonder if there's an issue getting the Supersonics into the game, too. Obviously EA did it with NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and 2K has done it with the 1996 Sonics beginning with NBA 2K11, but I'd suggest they have more clout with the NBA. But yeah, era/season-specific Legends seems likely too, and it's a logical way of organising them.

They'll probably have rosters similar to NBA JAM, although I hope it's more expanded than NBA JAM

Maybe. Not sure how far you can go but I hear most games using the unreal engine 4 are fairly modder friendly.

I honestly can't wait for this

As I said, definitely something we should look into.

When people where saying It had a Jam/Street influence, I thought it would be much more Jam inspired. You can really see both of the game in the movements and animations.
Surprisingly well done.

Disappointed it's not a street vol. 2 clone lol but it's cool. Looks like instead of the gamebreaker meter you fill up a bar for the lottery which is an interesting but similar concept.

I have to admit that I'm a little turned off by the upgrade system and bonus points on perfectly timed shots, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until I've actually played it.
