So you can't just load a custom roster with any filename and begin a MyCAREER? There's no Roster.ROS file in your saves folder by default, so why would that make a difference? Is there a step missing there?

No. There's no Roster.ros by default. I mean you have to rename your customized Roster to Roster.ros for you to use it in your MyCareer.

I understand that. I'm just curious, as it's just renaming a roster file and since there's no Roster.ROS by default, it's not something the game would be looking for in the saves folder upon starting a new MyCAREER.

I think that since there's no Roster.ros by default, 2K had a "hidden roster" via Roster.iff (that's why we hex edit there). Since there's no Roster.ros by default, we can save the default roster first in game. Save it as Roster.ros, edit the rosters and play MyCareer

I think we can all agree this game sucks if you have to go through this bullshit to play on an edited roster

You don't have to. You can just load it and start your new MyCareer. If you're trying to play with an already in progress MC then follow his instructions.

Huh, looks like this was never moved to the Tutorials section back then. I'll take care of that now.

If you create your own player in settings. Then put him on the roster you want. Go to association. Change settings to 29 games season, 1 game for the playoffs. Then pick your team and set all task to CPU controlled. (Optional for better career experience) For the matches when your player isn't on you can control full team. But when your player comes on, go to pause menu. Controller Settings. Then change preferred position to that of your player and voila!! Then if you come off you can change back to none and control full team or pick a certain player to control again. This is a sort of player career that will work on any roster and you don't start with ass stats.
