UPDATE on the 2004-05 Season Mod Project

Greetings, everyone! I hope you're all safe and healthy during these difficult times.

With regards to my big project, I have decided to release a demo version for it. May I present to you: the 2004-05 Season Mod Demo

I've been itching to make a complete season mod for quite a while, and I believe that 2004-05 is the best season to make. This was the first season to feature 30 teams in the association. A whirlwind of stories happened during this year; featuring the peak of the Kobe-Shaq rivalry; the first time All-Star selections of Lebron James and Dwyane Wade; the Pacers-Pistons incident, Vince Carter's exodus from the Raptors, and the debut of everyone's favorite team: the Charlotte Bobcats!

For the actual gameplay of the demo, I chose to feature the Los Angeles Lakers against the visiting Miami Heat, based on their Christmas day game. Each quarter is set for 5 minutes, while Difficulty is set to "Pro" and Game Style set to "Default." Players can adjust the latter 2 settings during the game.

Hi, NLSC! It's been a while since I made updates. For now, I decided to try making one of my dream projects: the 90's and 2000's All-Star teams.

Yes, the idea definitely came from the NBA Live series and furthermore inspired by the newer NBA2K's URBasketball and UBR mods. Basically, I got the best and most practical versions of the players from different roster files floating online. Below are some screenshots of the roster and gameplay:

I'm still making some minor tweaks to the ratings and info, but I hope to release them by Christmas. This will basically be my holiday gift to the community!

Bad news, NLSC. My laptop screen just died on me today. I'll have to postpone this project's release until I can get it fixed, probably after the holidays too. Hope to get back on it asap nevertheless.

Andrew, I have the 2000's team ready for release, but most of the cyberfaces I used belong to other creators. Will it be enough to simply give them credit even without their consent? What if one of them hasn't been active for nearly a year?

It should be fine. It's usually best to ask first whenever possible, but sometimes it is easier to go ahead and give full credit, and resolve the situation later if there are any issues, especially when you're talking about older releases and modders who aren't around anymore. Generally speaking, there usually isn't any problems if you're giving full credit, and let people know to contact you if there are any problems with files being included.

Thank you for clearing it up. I really look forward to release this without any hassle. I made sure to leave them a message if that is the case.

Hey NLSC, what's up? I'm currently working on retro teams, and since the Houston Rockets just retired Yao Ming's jersey, it is only fitting that I release the best team he played for: the 2007-08 Rockets. You're very welcome, mate! Unfortunately, I can't set the courts since this is a created team. The fictional court always applies to created teams in the game. Instead, I recommend changing the Game Options and set the Arena to the real Rockets Arena (the one between the Air Canada Centre and Thunder Arena) before starting the game.

Fans of this team can argue that it was one of the best squads never to win a championship, as they underwent a heated and controversial Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. Thanks, man. I do remember reading your article on that. I can somewhat relate as I had tons of unfinished Detroit Pistons franchise and dynasty files from the past Live games.

Fortunately, I was able to get some closure on it. Sort of.
