I was investigating the NBA live 2005 exe file and found that. There are some other stuff here and there, like something that "changes fps of net animation, there must be a better way but we haven't found it yet" (or sorta). Funny.
There are lots of console commands inside the exe file, but I couldn't find a way to open the dev console inside the game (using the method Andrew described in one of the Dumb Mondays editions).

That's awesome, good find! 
I haven't gone through any of the .exe files in ages, but I remember there being some interesting things hidden in the NBA Live 96 executable way back in the day (including "Bench Warmer", near the names of the other positions).
Yeah, I don't think the console actually works for NBA Live 2005-08, though there's mention of it in the config file.
