Yeah I totally agree. I played today for the first time in a while and I helped bring a team back down 6-3 to force overtime and then wound up giving up an own goal to lose it

Definitely a knack to getting it to bounce up at the right angle. I can attest to JaoSming being fantastic at scoring immediately as the ball is put into play after a basket.

I did manage to get a few goals off the tip. Interestingly enough, the goal is low enough to allow goaltending. It's weird because in real basketball it's not allowed.

I think in this situation, you pretty much have to allow goaltending. It still takes some skill and timing to knock shots clear regardless.

You are playing 'basketball' driving a rocket powered car around and you're weirded out by its lack faithfulness to the rules of the basketball by not having goaltending?

Season 3 is starting today. I started getting tracked by one of the stats websites a couple months ago and I think this properly sums up my ebbs and flows with this game



There were a few times I hit division V, but I'm just way to inconsistent, and I like to have fun than try to play competitively all the time. Many L's taken for silly shit.

I do seem to remember being in the star ranks when this season first started, and the rewards for this season are supposed to be based on your highest rank throughout the season.....so that should be interesting.

My "favourite" loss thus far: about a minute into the game, my teammate (I play 2 vs 2 exclusively) centered the ball along the ground from the corner and I tapped it in. Turns out from the replay that it was going to go in whether I touched it or not, but I had no time to assess that in live play.

My teammate hurled abuse at me and quit, up 1-0. I went on to lose on account of it being 1 vs 2.

At least he didn't do the whole "I'm on the other team now" BS I've been hearing about on Reddit..... can't wait to re-rank the playlists with actual teammates (I play 1v1 pretty much exclusively)

That's surprising to hear. I guess I only play with friends, so I don't encounter any problems with teammates. However, it's seemed like a friendlier community than most.

And that has been my experience, only in maybe 1 in 10 games I will have to deal with a jackass in 1v1s. I never ran into many issues with randoms for the team playlists either, but you always hear about the worst online.

That's true. You're always going to run into the occasional jerk in real life, so it stands to reason you'll run into them online, too. Fortunately, all my experiences with Rocket League have been very positive so far.

That's also happened to me. Blocked one of my shots, then ran down and scored for the other team.

Teammates quitting on me happens relatively often, although approximately half the time I end up doing better afterwards because they're too interested in stat-padding to care about playing properly. Had a teammate quit when we were down 0-2 once, came back and won on my own.

There was one guy ages ago who actually turned his mic on specifically to hurl abuse at me for how utterly shit I was and how I should quit and give up on life and so on and so forth. I was absolutely useless, should stop trying to do things, just stay out of his way. He was halfway through yelling WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING when I scored a goal. So he quit. Was actually pretty amusing.

I've run into some good people there as well, though. One guy actually went to chat to say 'at least u tried' after I blew a save, rather than the usual hammering the 'what a save!' quick chat button. Got deserted by my teammate at 0-2 or 0-3 one time, and the other team were talking in chat about how unfair it was and trying to decide what to do about it, discussing the possibility of one of them quitting but turning it down because of the resulting loss of ranking points. I got it back to 3-4 and they promptly shut up and just started playing.

Lost a game tonight after an overtime period lasting six minutes and thirteen seconds. Heartbreaker.
