NBA Live 17 Update: Coming in 2017

I'll believe they will release a console version when I see it. Seen too much over the years to believe anything that is said.

Their timing is great. I just found out Civilization 6 is being released in October.

The plus side is that with a 2017 release, they aren't competing with 2K for a sale. Most people don't have 120 dollars to drop in one day, and realistically, if you only have the money for one, you're almost always going to go with the safe bet, which Live certainly isn't yet.

The downside is that anyone who wants a basketball game isn't going to wait 3 months when another game is already available.

Not sure what the release dates for like for both games outside of Europe but from 2k6 till 2k9 they released there game around Jan/Feb which I bought after playing Live from Oct so I think the real gamers will wait.

Double-checked the release dates in the Wiki, and those later release dates were for the PAL regions. I remember that too though, 2K coming out later than Live here in Australia.

Andrew Wilson said on the EA Investor Day webcast on Tuesday May 17th 2016 that NBA Live & Fifa on mobile will be built and delivered the same way they do Madden . Also during theses later releases 2k would ship for the price of £26-29 compared to EA's £44.99, I wonder if Live does ship in early 2017 if they do a knocked down price?

It wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if it's a fully featured game. It might cause some grumbling if it then shoots back up to the regular price in subsequent years, but if the product impresses, I think it'll justify returning to the usual price tag.

If the game is justified I also have no problem paying the price as I don't have much time to play many games outside of the nba releases anyway.

I'd say they definitely should release their game at a cheaper price. How many people would buy a game at full price midway through the season which is inferior and surely won't have that many engaging modes? Live 16 already sold poorly and the franchise is at an all-time low in brand perception by the gaming community, it wouldn't be wise to release Live 17 at 60+ dollars.

Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if they further postpone the release until Sept 17 when they could bring it back out before the season starts at full price for a full season with hopefully a full and completed game.
