Was expecting at least one blockbuster deal but that's kinda disappointing.

Same here. Apparently there were a lot of discussions about Howard, and the Bucks were making a late push for him, but he wouldn't opt in to the final year of his contract, scaring them off.

According to my sources, Dwight didn't want to commit to being a player-coach.

I guess with hard injuries hitting teams like Heat and Bulls, it probably gave sense of security to other playoffs teams like Raptors, Cavs, Celts, Hawks, etc so they didn't go crazy on making moves.

One team I am surprised for not making move is the Rockets. I guess they didn't want to stir up the team that made to conference finals last year and give the same squad another go.

That's a foolish way of thinking for them. They got whooped by the Clips and got lucky. Howard's not a franchise player, and harden can only take them so far.

Again, they were supposedly very willing to move Howard, but either weren't satisfied with the offers, or in the case of the Bucks, the other team balked because Howard wouldn't opt in to the last year of his contract.

I think I missed that one.

Report: High asking price, refusal to opt-in scuttled Dwight deals

The Houston Rockets' efforts to move Dwight Howard figured to be one of the more fascinating storylines of Thursday's NBA trade deadline. Would Rockets general manager Daryl Morey be able to find an offer enticing enough for Howard — still a very good center who's damn good in the playoffs, but now on the wrong side of 30 with a scary injury history and without the elite athleticism he once possessed — to make moving him palatable?

As we learned Thursday, the answer was no. "The Rockets did what they could to move Howard out of Houston on Thursday," NBA sources told Chris Mannix of The Vertical, "canvassing the league for offers, plainly instructing teams to submit their best bids. No luck." And, as expected, it was the combination of Howard's downshift from franchise-changing talent to very good big man and his ability to opt out of the final year of his contract this summer to enter unrestricted free agency that seems to have put the kibosh on any dealing.

According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, while Morey's high asking price in a Howard deal — "at least one frontline player and a future first-round draft pick in return" — contributed to the stasis, it was Dwight's commitment to testing the market this summer that finished the job:
"Many teams called expressing great interest in trading for Dwight," Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, told ESPN.com on Thursday night. "The obvious stumbling block to a trade was how could a team justify giving up important assets for a player who was about to become a free agent in a few short months?

So yeah. It's not that the Rockets believe they're a fantastic team right now, they just weren't happy with the offers, and other teams weren't keen on giving up valuable assets unless Howard opted in to the last year of his contract.

It looks like stars with expiring contract were either (1)overpriced, or (2)lowballed. I was hoping they'd find a middle point. Ryan Anderson, Dwight, Hassan, Rubio which of these guys will remain with current team starting next season?

As for the Rockets, even outside of Dwight, there were many rumors involving Brewer and Ty Lawson. None of it came to fruition though for a team seemingly in needs of new look.

If I had to pick a winner from deadline trade-spree(?), I'd go with the Magic. Not a huge win but considering PG availablity in current market and for the foreseeable future, the Magic should be pleased for picking up 27 yo capable PG.

Lawson's probably a tough sell, given his off-court issues. Teams might be interested, but they'll probably look to pick him up in the offseason or if he's bought out by the Rockets, rather than giving up any assets to acquire him at the deadline.

Let us dispel this myth that Daryl Morey doesn't know what he's doing. He knows exactly what he's doing.

In Morey I trust.

I think the magic made out well. They may be able to land 2 of the "big" name fa's

Detroit is the big winner imo. More shooting to surround Drummond with.
