UBR Compatible File Circa 1969-1986

Postby drj32 on Thu Dec 17, 2015 8:32 am

I've got pretty big news if you are a 70s and early 80s fan.

Using the UBR as a base, I've created a new file encompassing the years of 1969 to 1986, merging the NBA and ABA into one file (best players from each franchise of that era), re-rating most of the players, changing tendencies, fixing errors, incorporating 70s and 80s music in place of the current music, (both in menus and in game), fixed all playbooks, assigned many new coaches, changed all coaching settings and changed many faces so there weren't as many duplicates, and found closer matches.

I tried to make it as immersive as possible.

You've got all the major ABA franchises represented by the best players from that era, as well as every NBA franchise in the roster. additionally, I added in many extra players who came along post-1985 into the free-agent pool, like Ewing, Hakeem, etc, so it's a very comprehensive 70s and 80s compilation.

In fact some teams were so stocked with great players, I had to create two complete teams for some franchises. ( early and late 70s era Lakers, Suns, Sonics, and Knicks, 70s and 80s jazz and Bulls, etc.)

Of course I could not have done this without Hawk23 and Suirad's original work, so much of the credit goes to them. Everyone has different opinions so I just consider this another take on the UBR.

It may not be for everyone but I spent two months on it with help from @Skoadam when I did not have a paid version of Red MC, he helped me out with many edits before I finally got the license ( which took a month). Also I need to think @suirad for helping to create the Kentucky Colonels, Utah stars and Virginia Squires Arenas and floors that I created the logos for.

the only thing I have not been able to solve to my complete satisfaction is the ball hogging of so many players. Even with all of the playbooks being fixed, I'm still seeing too much dribbling for 10 seconds and hoisting up of last-second shots. If anyone has a suggestion on fixing that, I would love to hear it!

thanks,
DrJ32

*NOTE- YOU MUST HAVE THE UBR TO USE THIS, SO DOWNLOAD THAT FIRST @ viewtopic.php?f=153&t=94047

THEN 1969-1986 DOWNLOAD FILES HERE: http://www.fileconvoy.com/dfl.php?id=gc ... 27f0925251
the song files are included as well even though I'm not sure if you need them or not.
Otherwise there are two folders - one of them goes into your program files folder under 2k14, the other, your 2k14 saves folder
remember to back everything up before you install the files just in case you want to go back to the way it was before.

I just downloaded stockalone's nbc presentation and retro packs and it makes this so much more realistic.
see it here- viewtopic.php?f=153&t=96175&hilit=stockalone

It has always been's HAWK's position to not allow others to release rosters that use his roster as a base, and I can't say I disagree with him. Taking something that has had thousands of hours put into it, putting a few of your own, and re-releasing it is certainly worth getting flustered over. I know you've pointed to the UBR thread/download, and really been appropriate and not malicious, but I'll have to ask you to remove the download to the roster, unfortunately. Maybe you can send it to people via PM or something, but I'm going to be respectful here, as we always try to be.

Bigh0rt,
sure I'll do whatever you want, but if you look at the description I gave all due credit to HAWK And Suriad. I felt that I was very respectful.

By the way, he may have put thousands of hours into it, but I certainly put hundreds and hundreds of hours into minute specifics to fix errors, for instance changing white players appropriately into black and vice versa, taking what were previously bald players and putting the correct hairstyle on them, or vice versa, fixing ratings where guards were treated as big men and vice versa, adding appropriate era music, creating logos for floors, etc. etc., I actually thought the community might appreciate the help to get things more accurate. isn't this why we are doing this?
: )

The UBR was a huge undertaking, I understand and respect that, but if someone wants to improve anything I do, I'm always happy to see that. I always have been. I'm having trouble understanding why someone would refuse a hand in making something better for the community.

Again, I gave him full credit and did not disrespect his work in any way so I would appreciate more information of what there is to object to here, if possible.

I'm asking this respectfully but again I will do whatever you ask. if you want me to remove it, I will remove it.

Also please note, I did not put the link on some website that will give downloaders viruses in exchange for me making a couple of cents per person. I made it free for everyone, for the community, for the love of the game, because that's what I believe this community is all about. please let me know if I am wrong.
Thanks

As HAWK has been absent going on 5 months now, I have no problem letting this go, as long as you're pointing to the UBR as a must download, and limiting the additional files. I'd just call it 'UBR Compatible' or something; with the understanding that if/when HAWK returns, it may need to be shut down.

I certainly try whenever possible to not hamper others who are putting great work and effort into things, and as I said, you went about this the right way, which is always appreciated.

How's that sound??
