also can we edit players skin tones?

Skin tones, probably, but it's complicated. The textures go through a shader in game, so you'd have to do a ton of trial and error to get good results. Normals are definitely editable, though. Make sure you have nVidia texture tools installed for Photoshop.

yeah ive got the nvidia plugin. when i try to open a normal map in photoshop all i get is black image. should i be saving the file as a png and then making it into a normal?

No. Whatever is causing them to not open properly is something on your end.

Yeah, this issue is being addressed as it's been reported by multiple people. Be patient and a fix will hopefully be released in the next few days.

I wasn't using any editing tool last year with 2K15 so I'm a little lost here...Would someone be able to post a simple but detailed step-by-step process to simply import new .iff files into the game please? That'd be much appreciated.

Hmm, but since the tool seems to be a little different this year I'm still a bit confused about the process: in 2K15 you had to open the original CF archive in order to import anything, which makes sense to me. I am not seeing the option to open a specific archive with the 2K16 tool (I figured it'd be the "load archive" option but no dialog window pops up when I click on that), nor do I see an "import .iff archive" type of option... For example, I'm trying to open the "0W" file to try to import TBM's George Hill CF, how would I do that?
Sorry, I don't mean to be thick here, I'm just still lost.

Go to Options>Preferences. In the box that pops up, click select none and then manually pick 0W so that it's the only box checked. Then, click File>Load Archives.

That's the step I was missing here, along with selecting the main game directory and saving the settings so it could actually load that specific archive...Works great now, thanks a lot guys. :)

The runtime error bug seems to be fixable. The FAQ has been updated with the solution.

Quick editing question. Am I able to edit body sizes of current and/or retro NBA players?

An extreme example would be to have Shaq's body modified to Dwight Howard's body, BUT with Shaq's tattoo intact.

Also, would I be able to make edited rosters into draft classes? Since edited players bodytypes cant be changed, I figured this would be the best way to make " realistic " draft class.

*EDIT*

On another note, can I mix and match players who have same skintones, i.e Pekovic body/Chris Andersen Head?

That's nice to hear!

Adding on to my edited post, are we able to add tattoos on current players who have no tattoos? I tried importing the chest.dds and texture files but no avail.

Sorry for the bombardment of questions... but if I could do all this, I thought its high time I make a little contributions to the modding scene.

if the player has no chest texture, then not yet. That'll work in the next version of the tool. If they do have a chest texture, yes. Just save as DXT1 no alpha.

Hmm, Today I used the .40V of the tool, and I tried to update the Celtics floor, but It didn't seem to work, it was still the Celtics Arena and the TD Garden etc wasn't there. I used the tool via administrator and I opened the correct archives and imported correctly..
EDIT: Now when I try to load archives I am getting Index error on the cmd and the archives are empty when they load up

You corrupted the game. Verify game cache and delete manifest_g.

The floor_005_c.4c14df7de9ca8ca1 file that I get when I open the archive is originally a .dds file? but the one that needs to be imported is a .iff file..

Not sure what you mean. Are you asking about the shared floor files? If you are, yes, those are IFFs, not DDS. The content of the iff is DDS though. Just import the DDS into the iff as you normally would. Just ignore the fact that it says that the iff is a dds, which it is not.

So... I just manage to do this. Linas Klezia with Chris Andersen tatts.

Here's the thing, is it possible to do this sans the beard/hair? If no, what if I use someone who has no 3D models for hair and beard and edit the CFs?

Do remove the 3D beard, make the hair_color texture completely blank.

Now I'm not sure what you mean LOL

EDIT: I was able to get Celtics, Hornets courts updated, Nik Stauskas hair updated, Spurs jersey updated. But now I run the explorer again and getting the index errors and 0 archives detected when I open a teams archive. I also noticed quite a few times when I applied changes after importing the updated files the explorer just stopped responding and the pop up came that it stopped working and the program would just close right after.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm just importing the iff files the same way as last year I see on the top post that you use the iff editor but when I open the iff editor I can only open a file thats it what do i do?
