Hornets Franchise - Year 1!

Postby TheBigEasy on Mon Jan 06, 2003 7:41 am

Ok folks, here we go. I have started a franchise with the New Orleans Hornets today.

Franchise Settings:

Allstar
8 minutes - 12 minutes simmed
Arcade with all rules on
Fouls at half
82 Games
Random Schedule

I have created a player and put him into the Hornets, a PF. I have taken the pattern for an offensive PF and increased the 3pointers to 80. So he has a 82 rating overall.

I had created 4 other players too, but I am using DK's latest tweaked roster and had created this players before installing this rosters. So i only recreated my PF.

Here are the stats of the first game againts Detroit:

Code: Select all
Kompl. Spiel        Detroit          New Orleans

Points              96               101
Benchscoring        15               26
FG                  34/88            43/77
FG%                 38,6%            55,8%
3 Points            4/18             7/16
3 %                 22,2%            43,8%
Freethrows          24/29            8/20
Freethrow %         82,8%            40,0%
Rebounds            33               48
Off. Rebounds       5                10
Def. Rebounds       28               38
Blocks              7                10
Steals              12               11
Assists             21               27
Turnovers           14               26
Fouls               14               24

This game was really great. The first quarter was really bad for me. I lost it 29 : 14. Then Courtney Alexander had a great time in the second and scored about 11 points for me. I won this quarter with 29 : 19, so i was still 5 points behind the Pistons. Than, in the third quarter i had a 12-0 run. Sometimes i was 13 points ahead of the Pistons. And than Baron Davis started to score. He has made all 7 3pointers of the game, with just 9 attempts! Awesome. All in all he had 34 points. The pistons managed to come close in the end, up to 98 : 96 for me, then the game was over. But Davis scored another 3pointer beating the buzzer, so i had my first victory. 101 : 96.

Next Game is versus the Milwaukee Bucks. I hope to win that one too :).

I tried to aviod errors i made in earlier games. I haven't attempted as much 3pointers as before, cause i know that i cant make them all. Then i have tried to not only run and gun but to make easy points. Pass along the perimeter to get an open man and then shoot it. With this Courtney Alexander has made nearly all of his points. At halftime i had i think 9 fouls, where the Pistons had 19 or so.

This was the second game with DK's Roster from 28th of December. The first one i lost 128 : 85 to Boston in an exihibition game, where BD was fouled out with only 3 points and nearly all the starters in foultrouble pretty fast. Now i tried not to charge them that often, and so i made not that much fouls.

I am really looking forward to the rest of the season, at the moment i think it will be a lot of fun :). Hornets for Champion!

I will post the results regularly here.

Turnovers           15               19
Fouls               23               13

I lost it, but how close. End of the first quarter i was behind 10 points. Second quarter, 25 points each. 3 quarter 3 points better for me and in the 4th 4 points better for me. But it hasnt helped, i lost it. Damn :). But it was a great game.

I managed not to bring Baron Davis to quick into foultrouble, he made 30 points this game, 3rd in the league with 29,7 ppg :). I tried to run the shotclock down to get safe points and to stretch the game a bit, instead of runnin and gunnin. It helped. Then i improved my freethrow shooting. Still not that good as other teams, which shoot around 80 % from the line, but it got better. If i manage to improve my freethrowpercentage also to 70 - 80 % i will win such games. Cause in the end, Orlando fouled me a lot.

Puh .. i have to calm down .. in the end it was very close and a very tense situation. I lost it, but especially in the end it was a really awesome game and it felt pretty realistic, thanks to DK's roster tweaks.

Stats atm Won 1 - Lost 2 --> next up is Indiana which are at 1 - 3 atm.

Fouls               2                17

Right before the game i traded Jamal Magloire and George Lynch for Ben Wallace, but it hasnt helped. Ben Wallace had a bad game. And when i look now to the stats, he has only 67 overall, when i received him he had 85 ... WTF?

In the early third quarter i led with 13 points, but it was taken away from me ... grmpfl.

Baron Davis had another good game, making 30 points at all. He is now second in ppg in the whole league, only Allan Iverson is slightly better.

Ok .. next game is versus Minnesota, so it will be a tough game.

Turnovers           16               15
Fouls               5                16

I led the game by 15 and more during the first half. Then in the end i rallied again to 96 - 93, but didnt manage to win the game. Why? I dont know actually. I played a pretty tight D, Davis was not as good as in the games before. I even managed to guard Garnett pretty good in the beginning. Damn, i should have won this game.

What i dont understand is, Minnesota was 2nd in the midwest division, before our game. But the team was ranked 26 ... WTF? Wallace is still 67. That i dont understand also.

Anyway ... next game is in Boston. I hope to cut this losing streak there.

Ok, after another loss, this time to the Boston Celtics, i finally managed to win a game. New Orleans 105 - San Antonio 101. Great game actually. Right before it i made another trade, sending Bryce Drew and Robert Traylor to Boston in exchange for Tony Delk. Tony is supposed to be a backup for Baron Davis, and i hope he will make this better than Bryce Drew. So, now it is 2 - 5 for me. Next one is Atlanta, first game of a 4 game road trip.

From now on, you can read all about my franchise on my site, if i manage to upload all the stuff. The server of my webspace is currently down. But i will post it here, when the site is ready.
