Lakers trade for Roy Hibbert

After a tumultuous start to the offseason, when he was called out by Pacers President Larry Bird and cast aside for a younger, more athletic draft pick, Roy Hibbert is now on his way out of Indiana.
The Pacers spent Saturday finalizing a trade to send Hibbert to the Los Angeles Lakers. A league source confirmed to The Indianapolis Star that the deal will be completed on or after July 9, the end of the NBA moratorium. According to USA Today's Jeff Zillgit, the Lakers will absorb the remaining $15.5 million of Hibbert's contract. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Pacers will get at least one future second-round pick and potentially cash.

We were supposed to have Jordan or Aldridge or at the least, Lopez but nope. Lakers messed it up for being the Lakers.

This is actually a better pickup than Aldridge. Lakers would have gotten killed inside and on the boards if they had LaMarcus at the 5 and Randle at the 4.

Q, LA said he didn't want to play center at all when he spoke with Phil Jackson so I'd imagine it was the same with the Lakers

Just when you thought the Knicks drafted a center, they plan to use his 7'1" length at SF. Seriously though, he looks like a crappy rebounder.

I think that's a good way of putting it. Hibbert's not...awful. He doesn't shoot well for a big (except from the free throw line), but he can block shots and he's a double-double player per 36. It did seem like he could be so much more, but it's looking like that ship had sailed. For what they're giving up though, and considering that he's an expiring contract, it's not a bad move. Even if his production slips and he can't even give them what he gave the Pacers, it's not a huge gamble.

at the end, Hibbert just did not get the support of the team. I think that hindered some of his development. Now let's see if Kobe can make him cry.

Clips wanted Hibbert after DJ verbally agreed to sign with the Mavs but the Mavs refuses to help via a S&T saying there's no benefit for doing it.
