Jordan's the one breaking an agreement, not the Clippers.

real world situations like a job is not the same as the nba. the mavs got the agreement from him which triggered a chain reaction for both the mavs team and the rest of the league. then after everything falls into place he says "nah i was just fucking with you" and goes back to the clippers? this guy is a fucking douche bag

Sources: Cuban is beside himself. Driving around downtown Dallas begging (thru texts) Jordan's family for address to DeAndre's home

As I said in the other thread, I do have to alter my position slightly here in terms of the Clippers' honour, because they did break an "unwritten rule" and all that. But I still think that it ultimately comes down to Jordan being the one who's going back on his word and not just turning the Clippers down flat because it's too late.

Well courting a player after he verbally committed to another is a dick move. If this happens Dwight's term as the NBA's most hated center
will come to an end.

Didn't see your new stand there, sorry.

Yeah, it's definitely undignified and not really on the level, I have to agree with that upon further reflection.

Shots fired.

Meanwhile, Not Bill Walton threw this out there:

Pretty sure he's just stirring the pot there, because it's not quite the same situation. But it does reinforce the old saying that - right or wrong - a verbal or handshake agreement is only worth the paper it's written on.

Sources: Clippers have a DeAndre Jordan commitment as Mavs move to other options

Jordan has changed course on an agreement to sign a four-year, $80 million-plus deal with the Dallas Mavericks, a commitment that Jordan began to waver on in recent days, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Clippers coach and president Doc Rivers and owner Steve Ballmer won't leave the house, awaiting 12:01 a.m. ET time when they can sign him to a five-year contract worth more than $110 million, league sources said. The Mavericks have been unable to contact Jordan throughout the afternoon and evening on Wednesday and have abandoned pursuit of Jordan and turned to alternative options with the $20 million-plus it has in salary-cap space, league sources told Yahoo.

Jordan had agreed in principle to a four-year, $80 million deal with the Mavericks on July 3, but reached out in the past 48 hours to Rivers and expressed uncertainty about his decision to choose Dallas, league sources said. That started the chain of events that led to the Clippers traveling to Houston to meet with Jordan on Wednesday, sources said.

The fact that the Clippers(owner, coach, and players) had to go to his house and then spend the night while making sure he signs makes me think that DeAndre Jordan is mentally unstable. I think he just wanted to know how much he was wanted. Otherwise, wouldn't he have inked the deal with Dallas instead of this week long agreement and freethrow practice or whatever it was?

I don't think the Clippers broke any unwritten rules about pursuing a player who had an agreement with another team because it was reported that Jordan himself was having second thoughts before any reports of a second Clippers meeting showed up.

One part of me thinks that this was all a stunt to begin with.

Kevin, you might want to change the title. DeAndre stays in LA.

Haha. Just this morning I woke up thinking the Mavs would have a nice starting 5 next season. Forget that. They're screwed.

What a BIG FUCK U to the Mavericks fans. To add to the injury, Mark Cuban was hit with a fine by the league for talking about DJ and Matthews deals.

All of this has only contributed to increase the hate I have for this bitchy franchise. Half of the team went there and they kidnapped jordan till he signed the contract, without gving the mavs any meeting or something. They were even joking about this on twitter:

https://twitter.com/blakegriffin32/status/618960135050825729

Stupid BG. Makes offensive fouls on every dunk he does but then cries when he gets foul. Aaaah, can hate this organitzation that much. Only thing we can learn out of this is that DeAndre is a kid, gets influenced for everyone. The Clips knew it and that why the closed themselves into his house.

Classless DeAndre. Classless Griffin. Classless Clips.

I really don't care where DJ goes. I'd like to think that people have evolved to have higher respect for the LGBT community. But all I can say about DeAndre right now is "That's So Gay". I really can't think of a hate term right now of the same gravity. Whatever happened to word of honor?

The fact that Jordan himself reached out to the Clippers is definitely significant as far as them swooping in at this late juncture. It suggests that he didn't really want to leave, and a result, handled things very poorly indeed. So again, while I'm not absolving of the Clippers of all criticism, it ultimately rests on Jordan himself as the person who got cold feet, reached out to his old team, and ended up going back on his word to the Mavericks.

When you look at DJ's face, you'd be safe to say he looks like the kind of guy who changes his order at least 3 times at Mc Donald's. I won't say I had it comming, but I kinda' had it comming. The fact that he'd change his mind right after giving his word never crossed my mind. I would've expected him to demand a trade in January or next July when the Mavs don't have the season he is used to having with the Clippers.

Oh, but imagines the boo's at the American Airlines Center. It will be beautiful. And the cheers when DJ misses a FT (which is very often) .
