Editing Jersey Number and Name

Hey, guys. I've been putting my hands on jerseys lately and I've done a couple of these realistic looking front logos but I'm having no luck in editing the numbers and fonts. I've come across samardzicnba comment on one section that I have to resize them before editing but it didn't go well for me. Probably because there's still some missing pieces I have yet to learn.

Can somebody guide me, please? This Heat jersey and others might go to waste. Thanks in advance!
