Sources: Trail Blazers finalizing deal to trade Nic Batum to Hornets

The Portland Trail Blazers are finalizing a deal to send forward Nic Batum to the Charlotte Hornets for Noah Vonleh and Gerald Henderson, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The deal will be finalized on Wednesday night, league sources said.

The Blazers have been shopping Batum in recent days, and the deal gives them an intriguing young player, Vonleh, who is 19 years old with significant talent and work ethic. Vonleh was Charlotte's pick at No. 9 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft.

WOW this is a surprise to me... Batum is probably one of the better all-around players in the league. Looks like LaMarcus insurance/rebuilding?

Bad deal for them if they are trying to win (which they should be), a good deal if they are trying to rebuild. (which they shouldn't be)

Supposedly they're not rebuilding or moving on from Aldridge...or at least, their intention is to re-sign him, as per the sources cited in that article.

Seems like a bad move for Portland. Batum is currently one of the top 5-10 SF out there, and right now there is a shortage of quality SF in the FA market. Gerald Henderson though not lacking in leaping ability, just does not have Batum's length. Vonleh at this point is still a long term project. A nice little win for Charlotte. Now if only Charlottle can get an upgrade for Marvin Williams at 4. My guess is Charlotte is going for RJ hunter in the draft.

Wow. Michael Jordan pretty much got rid of Lance for Batum. Seems like a nice deal.

But this move ponders me for the Blazers. Henderson is decent but nothing special. Will they retain Afflalo now that Batum's gone? Seems like it's going to be Henderson, Matthews, Afflalo rotation if that happens.

Vonleh? As noted, he remains to be a project. No promise. He was extremely raw even to get fringe rotation minutes for the awful Hornets.

Afflalo opted out of his contract.

Batum had a pretty shit year and still has a two-year fat contract so this is a good move for the Blazers by me.

Matthews is coming off a major injury. Aldridge may be gone. Poor Blazers

Look at mj making some good moves... Even if Batum was underwhelming last 2 years. Maybe it was the wrist and other nagging injuries

Time to rebuild. Batum was pretty bad last year, and he peaked in season 2 or 3. I was a big fan for years, but it's time to move on. Vonleh's probably going to bust and Henderson is as mediocre as they come, but I don't hate this. Medium risk, high reward.

I like Nic personally but age and injuries are creeping up on him so i think the Blazers got a good deal for him.

For the Hornets is Batum can recapture some of that Pippen like game then Charlotte could be back in the playoffs.
