Stephenson to the Clippers?

Postby Jackal on Tue Jun 16, 2015 9:01 am

In a high-risk, high-reward move, the Los Angeles Clippers are discussing a deal with the Charlotte Hornets to acquire guard Lance Stephenson, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

I could see this working for them.

They can certainly afford to give up Hawes. There's some gamble with Barnes, and Stephenson has his issues, but it's not like they're losing Paul, Griffin, or Jordan here. Echoing what I said about J.R. Smith in the Finals thread, it may be a case where Stephenson just has to land in the right place to maximise his talent, while minimising his weaknesses and knuckle-headed moments.

Stephenson might just be able to give the Clippers just what they need, feistiness at wing position. That could be burden off CP3's shoulder. I like the move.

A bad deal. At least they didn't give up too much.

Stephenson is like Rondo. He has good numbers but has a bad impact on his team.

:facepalm2:

It's a deal that took Stephenson being a bonehead into a consideration. He only has 1 year left on contract. Both parties can forget marriage happened if things dont' work out, no penalty whatsoever. This is a no risk deal for the Clippers. Barnes and Hawes were fringe rotational players at best. You turn that into something, it's a good deal from any angle you look.

See, how I did this without resorting to insult or ad hominem? No need for blatant attack, I didn't need to say your analysis nor you are pathetic even though I thought it was. It would have only made you mad bruh.

Shows how much Charlotte wanted to get rid of him.

He's a worse shooter than Barnes and more feisty and better ball handler. Agree with Andrew. Maybe he gets reigned in playing with some established teammates with some degree of success and a good coach

It's kind of nuts, they could've just cut him for that matter. Hawes still has 3 years 20 million to go on his deal.

Charlotte has a big man fetish lol

I watched a few games on LP of Charlotte's and Lance just didn't fit in with what got them to the playoffs the year before.

He over dribbles, tries to fire bullet passes and drives into a crowd with his head down, he was driving me crazy in just the handful of games I watched in a row so I can imagine how there coaching staff felt.

Seems they do. Zeller, Biyombo, Hawes, and ofc Jefferson.

And Matt Barnes will be bought out so he'll become a free agent. But he's 35 year old. So wherever he goes I don't think he'll have a big role to play. So technically Michael Jordan traded his expiring contract for Hawes. I guess this isn't too bad if he was in the market for a cheap center.

They also drafted Noah Vonleh with the 9th pick last year....

In a recent interview with French sports outlet L’Equipe, Michael Jordan discussed his life as an NBA owner. When asked if he can beat his Charlotte Hornets players in a game of one-on-one, the 52-year-old Jordan answered with confidence.

"I'm pretty sure I can, so I don't want to do that and demolish their confidence, so I stay away from them. I let them think that they are good,"

Despite five years of NBA experience, Stephenson was born less than four months before 2014 Clippers first-round pick C.J. Wilcox.
