Leonard wins DPOY

Was either him or Green.

Good choice as he was fantastic all year long.

While I try to respect everyones opinion (as of late I'm really trying to be nice), I just don't see why you'd write something like this without any stats as to backup your opinion.

(Advanced) stats suggest it's a tight race between the two.

Kawhi leads the league in Drtg at 96 but Green is just behind at 97.

Kawhi rebounds more per 100
Green has a higher rebound %.
Green is better at DWS
Green has a better DBPM

Leonard steals the ball more, Green blocks slightly more.

GSW won 12 more games, which should be taken into account.

All in all, you can really make a case for both players. I'm satisfied with Leonard, but would be just as satisfied if Green won it.

Wtf is wrong with the voters. CP3 1 vote ?

People voting these awads are journalists or what ?

Cause they are idiots, a la Skip "Moron" Bayless and Stephen "How stupid can you be" Smith.

EDIT: and they consider themselves "analysts" and the media think they use stats and actually know what they are talking about.

Leonard benefited from voting system and *reputation.

Green played 25% more than Leonard, meaning that Green played 4 games of great defense in & out while Leonard playing 3 games. DeAndre played asswhooping 800 more minutes of defense than Leo btw.

Leonard. at young career, already has some ridiculous achievement to his resume. League and media did a great job promoting him a superstar and HOF. DPOY? That's something LBJ doesn't even have.

There were a few guys you could've given this to. Draymond might not be the most important defensive player on his team (Bogut) but you could make the same argument for kawhi with Duncan. DeAndre would have probably heard gotten my vote all things considered but I have no problem with this. Let Leonard get one before Gobert wins 7 or 8 in a row.

1 of the 3 perimeter players to win since 1989. Big men get all the hype.

I wish that lone Hassan Whiteside vote was a first place one to be funnier.

Fair call, in my opinion. Glad to see it was a close race in the voting, as it was pretty much a toss-up between the two.

Green's remarks suggest that he's just a little miffed about missing out on the award. Another "subplot", should the Spurs and Warriors end up facing each other in the Western Conference Finals. That'll be a great series if it happens.

Anthony Davis should have fucking won it though imo.

Maybe a change of guard in the voters mindset. Or championship hangover.

I'm among those who believe that if a player misses pretty significant time during the season (such as almost a quarter that Leonard sat out this year), then he needs to be really head and shoulders above other candidates in the games he does play to get an award.

In other words, I'm among those who believe Green should have received it.

Nice to see someone gave Noel a vote. Prepare for him being a pretty serious DPOTY contender once the Sixers stop being laughable. The impact is large already.

I didn't even think of Kawhi- missed too many games in my opinion- but I'm glad he won. Green also could have won. But truth is either one would've been the correct choice.

The Clippers Defense is 15th in league. That is despite having Chris Paul who plays the most stacked position and is arguably the best defensive PG in the league once again. DeAndre just isn't DPOY caliber player. Players like Marc, Tim can outright push him on any given night. Giving him a DPOY would be like Tyson Chandler winning it in the past out of sympathy. The difference is that Leo and Green are significantly better defenders among their peers. Now it's probably also arguable that DeAndre carries more load defensively for their team.
