What happens during Free Agency in NBA 2K14 MyCareer? [PC]

After winning my first ring in my rookie season with the Brooklyn Nets, I'm in my sophomore season and my last year on the contract. I'm wondering how will the process work out if it exists at all. I've read posts saying that after their contract is up they just get another year added to their contract and if that would be the case, I'll just ask for the trade to Chicago early.

I want to play for the Bulls with Derrick Rose that's why I'm so interested in free agency because this is the only chance I think to play in the Bulls without losing Rose or Rose & Butler.
