No MJ = Sad Console Gamers

Thu Aug 12, 2004 4:27 am

"Michael Jordan is NOT in the game because he is not a member of the retired players union/association. He was allowed to be used in NBA Live 2004 because EA is permitted to use a player in the game for one year following thier retirement. The player must be a member of the retired players union/association for EA to be able to put a player into the game following the first year of their retirement."

I guess I'll just have to create number 23 and stick him on the Bulls so I can use MJ in the dunk contest. Didn't MJ sign a deal with EA back in 2000 for Live'00. Maybe he should sign another?

Yeah...get Abdul-Jabbar....Heck, Get All the Top 50 Players... :D

yeah, that's stupid that MJ won't be in the game. Oh well, we can always create him.

its sad that mj wont be in the game but for me it wont matter at all. the only thing i do in nba live, or any sports game for that matter, is play dynasty/franchise. so i would have no use for mj anyway.

Thu Aug 12, 2004 11:07 am

Exactly, it's not like MJ would be on a regular team. Sure it would've been nice to have him as one of the dunk contest legends but it really isn't that big of a deal to me.

Thu Aug 12, 2004 11:16 am

same wit the rest of the console users, MJ doesnt really matter

Thu Aug 12, 2004 11:42 am

i think it would be better if MJ and abdul-jabbar is in the game remember this two player is the greatest player of all time

Thu Aug 12, 2004 12:58 pm

I'm guessing we ca edit it from saying #23 to saying MJ?

Don't feel sorry for us console gamers (I own an xbox) beacuse I'm sure the reason why EA didn't just pay him like they did before is because they probably have faith in there create a player option (rumors have it thats its similar to Tiger Woods Golf in which yoiu can create anyone and ANYTHING! ) and expect us to have a blast creating him eventually sharing our stats (so to speak) in our adventure to get Mj down to a tee. So we will HAVE MJ, one way or another just like you PC guys!

Fri Aug 13, 2004 1:41 am

i will own the pc version also but i will probably still not download the mj patch. like i said before i dont see myself ever useing him anyway.

Idea: Let the All-Star teams be flexible like ESPN's; let us be able to add/remove/edit players (Console Versions) so that we could add Jordan to the 90's All-Stars team.

The reason why MJ isn't in the game is clearly explained in DANet's hands-on thread over at .org and it's definitely not because EA "have faith in the create-a-player option" jk
I don't really care if they got Jordan in the game or not as long as we're still able to add him to the game manually. By we, I mean PC users

hope the announcers can still say Jordan. Have no PC that's why :)

Fri Aug 13, 2004 10:03 am

Yea I have a PC but I play it on PS2....thats bad news for us

Sat Aug 14, 2004 9:32 am

I think i used MJ maybe once on live 04 so its not that big that he wont be in the game......i mean its great if he is but i rarely use any legends so its cool with me

Sat Aug 14, 2004 1:27 pm

Will he appear in PC version or not?

If not i'll be very sad  b.c. everytime i played NBA Live I always used CHICAGO BULLS with using him as a captain....

He won't be in the game by default, but I'm sure with the great patchers (Yohance :D ) he'll be in the game sooner or later for PC.

Wow, it's seems like more and more all signs are pointing to the fact that I should make the transition from console to PC. Between all the updates and patches, I can't even imagine how much it would take my "NBA LIVEing" to the next level. You mean to tell me that you guys can actually have Michael as well as Kareem in the game? Wow.....

I dont know if you are kidding or whatever...but I too find it fascinating how they can put these players, courts, etc. and make all this stuff into the game :D (Y) It makes me want to start playing live for PC, and make these extras too

Kidding? Oh no, that's amazing to me. Every year like clockwork once I finish a few seasons on Franchise mode I always create an old school roster where I re-create the '87 Lakers. I hate the fact that I always have to create Kareem and would love to have him in the game......

Thing is, I've never gamed on my PC and I have an aversion to it for some inane reason. I guess it has alot to do with the fact that me and the fellas play alot of tournaments at my house and I can't imagine 8 dudes crowded around a monitor. It seems like more of a medium for those who play exclusively on the solo tip. Hmmm, maybe I should get the PC version as well as the XBox version? I dunno, that's kind of expensive.....

But man, those patches are unreal. I remember there was one time when they had this patch that enabled you to play in a park setting and I think they also has street clothes. I was s-o-o-o envious!

Hehe... the street mod? :)

pc users tend to play multiplayer more while the console user plays with friends in his house more. if i planned to have people over to play with alot(specially if i was in college) i would get the console version. right now i basicly play just franchise and mp with my buddy so we both get pc. thats kinda how i see it. pc is better unless like you said, you plan to have people over your house.
