Love this game, by the way.

Developers hire modders away all the freaking time to figure out what the modders know and how to combat it. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems far to coincidental that the year Leftos is hired is the year 2k completely changes the file structure of the pc game making it MUCH harder (if not impossible) to mod the game.

Now instead of telling me to grow the fuck up, how about you take the bull by the horns and figure out away around this. NLSC is a modding based community after all.

You're reaching so much it's not even funny. I was hired for my passion for the game, and because I could contribute much more by working on the actual source code instead of spending my living days trying how to reverse engineer everything about the game. Go and listen/watch the Trials Let's Play between me and Jon, and then listen to the NLSC interview I did a few weeks ago. If all 2K wanted to do is stop modding, they're paying me way too much money for it. If 2K wanted to shut down modding, it would've done so.

As for Jon... I was asked to recommend the most passionate with NBA 2K person that I knew from the States and that had strong ties with the community so that it would be easy to scour and keep in touch with it, and the answer was extremely easy.

There's no conspiracy theory. Same with Bedwardsroy, same with Scott O' Gallagher, same with Da Czar, 2K is hiring the most passionate people to make it more amazing than ever.

I would in no case rather be modding this game given the experience I've had in the first year at VC. Modding alone would've never allowed me to add all the features that were added to franchise modes this year, or the improvements to the logic all around. Modding alone wouldn't have allowed me to directly interact with this amazing team and influence parts of the game I didn't even know I was interested in until I joined VC.

So I'm sorry if these hires set modding back a bit, if at all, but your theory is completely false. There were plenty of modders before Jon and me, and there will be modders after us.

Guess PR really got on Leftos to get out here and do some damage control before too much of the 2K agenda was exposed. That'll probably quiet some of the people who don't know the truth about how all the rich VC executives sit around 24/7 counting their cash and wondering how to stop modders from making them look so bad and threatening the count.

Surprised there's no defense of the crime that is not producing a six DVD retail version of the game on PC. The spin-masters must need a little more time for that one to be explained away with some double speak.

Had my first brush with the game and thus far I am pleased.

The install pangs are unfortunate but will be easily overlooked in the end.

Much appreciation to Leftos and all his input to get us NG graphics and new improvements.

I can see much of my free time will be eaten up in 2K15.

2K does it again.

Now if they can get us a (american) football game. Doesn't have to be NFL licensed... just hard hitting and football!!!!

Lot of bad words here. You guys should chill out and think twice before say something really stupid.
The sad fact is i will stick to 2k13 for a long time. I can do everything there, here nothing and it looks for a long time.

I don't really like DL games, because I can't sell them used after playing them. DL has not made games cheaper. Steam keeps asking me to type in a code (they keep sending it via email), because every time I load Steam it claims I'm logging in with a new device. BTW, it's always the same computer.

But I don't believe there is a conspiracy to block modding efforts. When I worked with EA on the Madden Challenge I hired community people to help operate the tournaments, because those people loved the game, were in touch with what the hard core players wanted, and could add a lot to the game and tournament experience. We didn't hire those people to silence the loudest members of the community or to take away people who "made us look bad".

MLB, NFL, NBA all hire passionate fans as stats stringers, official scorers, clock operators, break timers, and for a host of other jobs, because those people love the game and will work to make things better from the direction of the jobs they perform. Baseball teams hire the most prolific stats bloggers as stats analysts, because those people are passionate about baseball and do great work with the statistical analysis now popular with all the teams. Teams don't hire those people to silence fans or to absorb people who make the teams look bad.

I work for those leagues and know many people who work for various teams in those leagues. I see those efforts from the inside. I see the same thing in VC from the outside. They want to constantly improve their products, so they hire passionate, competent fans who can help them improve the game.

Don't panic with compressed files. Modding will still be possible. Did anyone think to drop someone like Leftos a line asking questions about file formats rather than ranting and raving about the format of the downloaded files?

Hey stomp,

The moving gif at the bottom of your posts kind of sends a mixed message with your last post. Who is getting the finger? It's not a very nice image.
