NBA 2K15 Pre Order

Just pre-ordered mine on Steam.

Does anybody know if we are getting a midnight release this year? Or is it going to be 1pm est. again?

the timer on Steam seems to indicate a 1pm Eastern release

Gamestop said they could tell me about one week before the release
if they will be doing a midnight release

I need to fix my sleeping schedule around October 5th so that I wake up at like 10pm. That way I'm not tired like two hours after 2K15 comes out.

Oh, yeah sorry about that. I was asking when steam would unlock the game. Will we be able to download most of it before that 1pm Eastern time? Then download the rest and play it then? Or will we only be able to start the download after it unlocks? I'm a noob when it comes to steam so I don't really know how these things usually unfold.

Last year I went through Gamestop download and had to wait until around 3pm to play the game. Not sure if it's different if you go directly through steam.

Although, this is the first year with actual Steam integration and they are doing a preloading on PS4, so maybe we get lucky with a preload as well (but probably not)

I'm sure it would be really simple to hold back 10% of the key files needed to run the game. Or maybe just the .exe file. It's just a few hours anyway.

Imagine if we can preload it and somehow we had mods for it before it came out.

You download encrypted files and the decryption key is gonna get released at unlock time - like with Portal 2.
Otherwise they can just let you download files containing all the models, textures, etc. And they release executables with dynamic libraries at release.

Edit: and day 1 patch - there should be at least roster update to reflect latest changes.
BTW is PC gonna get patches first as it's easier to push patches through steam than through psn/live (afaik)?

Maybe 2k should inform us about how it will be lookin, dvd disc(s) or download via steam or both, its important thing for many of us i think.

With the Steam logo all over the Pre-Order PR I'm pretty sure the Game is steamworks and your Retail Version from Amazon will have a Steamkey and you can choose if you want to install it from DVD or Download it.
