Talk about NBA 2K15 here.
Tue Sep 30, 2014 8:26 pm
Go to your Steam Folder: .../Steam/SteamApps/Common/NBA2k15 (or whatever game you are searching for).
Tue Sep 30, 2014 11:00 pm
Would I be able to copy my steam game from one computer to another? Or I need to download it again?
Tue Sep 30, 2014 11:19 pm
Just move the Folder in "SteamApps/Common/NBA2k15" to your new Computer and install it again, Steam will recognize the Files then.

Or use Steam's backup feature.

I anticipated a problem with NBA 2K15 being too large for my 80GB SSD drive that I have my operating system on. So I did a little research and found that if you want to move your current Steam installation to another drive, all you have to do is delete all the files and folders in your Steam folder except for the Steamapps folder and Steam.exe. Then you just move your steam folder to your new location. Then start up Steam and it will update all your files automatically. All your future games and everything else will be downloaded to your new location.
All this is described in better detail here:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -tdlc-0426So if you have a small system drive like me or you want to move Steam for a different reason, this is for you.

You went through so much when you could've just changed the steam downloads folder in the options...

Actually it was pretty simple. Also I wasn't sure if when the download started that it would be in a temporary location on my C drive until finished. If that is indeed the case I would have ran out of room before completing the download. I ran into that problem with the Gamestop App awhile back.

AFAIK Steam "pre-creates" files and just "fills" them with data. At least for some games.

That way if you don't have enough room it doesn't even try, that's good to know.

I have a slight confusion regarding the Physical Copy. I want to pre-order NBA 2K15 PC. But the problem is that in some online sites there's only the cover showing PC Steam Powered. Where as in other sites it shows PC DVD.
Here's an example
https://www.gamestop.co.uk/PC/Games/46402/nba-2k15 PC STEAM Powered
http://www.tesco.com/direct/nba-2k15-pc/448-3085.prd PC DVD ROM
http://www.game.co.uk/en/nba-2k15-299573 PC DVD ROM
Gamestop UK are offering the PC version with Kevin Durant MVP Bonus Pack cheapest in the UK at £24.97. Tesco and GAME are also offering Kevin Durant MVP Bonus Pack for PC but costs £5 more.
Now of-course if I buy it for £30 from either of these 2 sites that information is more clearly descripted about it being a physical copy. But I was thinking of buying it £5 cheaper from GameStop UK. But the confusion comes from whether it's just the Steam CD Key or is it a physical Retail DVD copy? Obviously a physical copy would be an advantage for me as I would avoid the hassle of having to download 50 GB of game data... Anyone knows?

Somebody at gamestop might know

I've heard that the retail copies from stores just contain codes to activate the game and you have to download it. It's not been confirmed.
It makes sense, though. 50 gb would require 6-7 DVD's, and not everybody has a bluray drive.
If your connection is slow, you might want to purchase and start preloading now so you can have it sooner. Another way would be to ask a friend with a better internet connection if you can download it there and copy it to a USB drive or bring your hard drive with you.
How fast is your internet connection, btw? If it's 2mbps or faster, I would just start downloading it. Provided you have a stable connection, you would finish the download sometime on Tuesday if you start preloading today.
Mon Oct 06, 2014 11:06 am
Well my connection is 20 Mbps from Sky Broadband. But I only receive an average of 14 Mbps when I do a speed test.
Downloading isn't a huge problem. It just means I have to wait probably 10+ hours for 50 GB download. So that would be a hassle that's avoidable if I had the physical copy. Especially if I have to reformat PC sometimes, it would always be handy to have the DVDs even if it is 6-7 DVDs needed. Otherwise my connection is stable.
Seeing that GameStop are offering the game for £5 (about 8 dollars cheaper) than GAME, Tesco and other sites. I thought it would've been great if It did have the DVDs. Of-course I can always purchase the game for a little more money just to be sure of having the Physical Copy.
I tweeted GameStop twice over the last couple of weeks but they never answered me whether it was a Physical Copy or not. That's my concern with the retail copies from the stores, whether they only just provide the steam activation code. Because I know that there are a couple of sites that sell the NBA 2K15 Steam CD Key only for slightly cheaper at £22. But if I could pay £25 and have the DVDs included that may be well worth it.
NBA 2K15 official release date is 10th of October here in Europe. So I still have another 3 days or so time to pre-order the game with the MVP bonus pack. Or alternatively I can pay £8 (12.77$) more and pay £30 for the Physical Copy of those sites that do say PC DVD. Not sure what would be the best choice. I'm still thinking.

Amazon.de also changed from Disc to "Code in a Box"

I doubt there are any Disc Versions. The only Reason I bought the Physical was there is no way I get it cheaper than 19.95€ before Release. I hope Amazon sends out the Key before EU-Release at least.

So since it's pretty much a download code in retail boxes, your better off getting it online.
As for frequent formatting of your pc, Once installed, use a zip program like 7zip or winrar to archive the files and put them on discs or a usb drive so you can easily re install if that happens. I use a second drive for games so if the time comes to reinstall or upgrade Windows, I have the game content ready to go.

I spoke with gamestop today and they told me without a doubt
they will be getting me a disc, I will have it at midnight and will jump on here to let everyone know
Mon Oct 06, 2014 4:28 pm
Did you ask them what kind of disc? You tell them the game is 50 gb? I wouldn't trust them. Last year they didn't know nba live 14 existed when I went to pre-order.
Mon Oct 06, 2014 6:12 pm
Well, if I released it on disc I would put 4 DL-DVD in the box, which would provide 8 - 8.5 GB of data per disc, which means 36 - 38 GB overall. The rest (2 - 4 GB) would be download only anyway.
So it's perfectly possible.
However my retailer explicitly stated, that they're getting code-in-a-box edition, which is fine with me as I don't have optical drive in my PC anymore (for like 4 years now) and I want the box.
Mon Oct 06, 2014 10:01 pm
PH will get a code in their game, how disappointing since our internet is so damn slow. Anyway, I finished downoading it last night since my speed went up 3x than its average dl speed.
Mon Oct 06, 2014 10:26 pm
Well I asked on Tesco whether it was a Retail DVD. And I got a response saying Tesco @Tesco · 3h2 hours ago
@TheRealBLaZiNg Hi, thank you for getting in touch. I've checked and it is a Physical Retail DVD. #HopeThisHelps - Leah.
But as you know I'm still sceptical. I have no problem paying £5 more if indeed I'm gonna get the DVDs included.
As for GameStop. In the US site there are 2 options BUY DOWNLOAD and BUY NEW. BUY NEW might refer to the Physical Copy.
But GameStop UK doesn't have those 2 options making it very confusing. Not to mention that in GameStop US the NBA 2K15 cover for PC doesn't have PC DVD or PC STEAM Powered imprinted on their cover. But GameStop UK has PC STEAM Powered.

So if I was to buy it for £5 more from either GAME or Tesco where it shows PC DVD but then end up getting a box with only the Steam Code. Then that would be a loss of £5 more..
Of-course if I was to wait until Release Date and then check in the shops I would be more certain whether it includes the DVDs or not. But then I will lose out on the MVP Pre-Order Bonus Pack.
Mon Oct 06, 2014 11:08 pm
If they have said it's a Physical Retail DVD, just go with them. Make sure it has the preorder bonus. if it turns out it's just a code you have evidence(The email) that they lied or mislead you. You can then demand a refund or a discount on your next game or something.
Tue Oct 07, 2014 12:26 am
So I've Purchased Titanfall in a dvd box and it was only 3 dvds and it's the same size has the nba 2k15 which is 50GB. Now I don't know the why for them to do this code-in-a-box thing but it is definitely not about the disk space because you can fit 50GB in 3 dvds with dual layer, so I guess its really about the money that costs making this dvds, I actually pre order it from EB games here in Canada because I thought it would be dvds since I have a monthly limit in my internet and if i knew i would have just bought from an online retailer for 20$ now I've paid 80$ for something that it is useless
Tue Oct 07, 2014 1:55 am
Guys Ive just seen the retail copy in South Carolina USA. Its not a physical copy. Its Steampowered. Makes me angry. I couldve started my download days ago...now itll take me till darn near Wednesday. Moved my preorder to the XboxOne version.
