What do you think guys? Maybe i need to change my videocard. What do you suggest? Tia.

You need change i5 or i7 cpu. becouse i3 to low ;}

No, its not. The CPU is fine. There are i5 CPUs that are better than i7s. That means nothing. But the Videocard is definitly not powerful enough.

But the i3 will bottleneck newer [higher-end] gpu. I can see gtx 750ti or maybe 760 going with it.

I dont really know much about specifications of a computer/laptop. I currently have a laptop( HP DV7-7080EB I7-3610QM 8GB 1TB 17.3'' LED). I was wondering if i would be able to play nba 2k15 on this laptop. Nba 2k14 worked quit well it heated a bit but it was bearable. I also played fifa 14 on it but the laptop heated a lot on the lowest settings.

Thanks

Maybe minimum settings, if anything.

@tbm do you think it would be still enjoyable to play on the minimum settings?

That's up to you. If graphics aren't important to you, then sure. If you want that next-gen experience graphically, then no.

No way you can get medium, unfortunately. You'll probably be able to get low settings, if anything.

Make sure you have a 64 bit version of Win7 or Win8, also.

Dommy73 wrote:Yes, nVidia's price for GTX 970 is $330 and for GTX 980 it's $550.

GTX 970 is on par with GTX 780 while having much lower TDP (145W - beautiful) and launch price.

So if you're on a verge of upgrading... this is it.
And of course if have the budget you can always go for GTX 980 - if you're into very high-end gaming that is.

Dommy73, what do you think about upgrading from r9 290x to GTX 980? Probably it would be just too costly and not really worth it, considering that I do not plan to upgrade my 1080p monitor to 4k one? I am just thinking about it in terms of r9 290x current value..I could sell r9 290x for about 250-300 EUR max I believe..500 eur for GTX 980 does not make sense probably since it's just 15% faster by avg than r9 290x. I'll guess waiting for r9 390x would be the wiser choice.

jay-r, I wouldn't recommend anyone to upgrade every graphic card generation. The difference is too low to justify spending quite a lot of money.

Right now you're fine with your 290x for let's say two years and if anything I would wait for 20nm cards if I were you. But I usually upgrade after 3 to 4 generations.

Yeah, a 560 Ti to a 970 would be a big leap. And the good thing is, you wouldn't even need a new power supply.

I was so pissed when literally 3 hours after the UPS guy dropped off my new $309 GTX 770, I got the news that the 970 was released for about the same price. And it's got 4GB RAM and uses half the power.

TBM is right, it would be a big step up in terms of performance and the 970 takes even less power, so you wouldn't have to worry about increased wattage.
On the other hand you might want to wait for black friday to see if there are any good deals :)

Well, over here if you order something via "long-range means" (internet, phone, ...) you can return it for full refund no questions asked (they might charge you for damaged box etc) for the next 14 days. It's a law here, but even f it isn't where you live, it might be worth a shot to contact your retailer.

I would have to pay for shipping back and 15% restocking fee. So I'm going to keep it. Also I complained and got
$15 credit. But man that's just some really bad timing.

Well, I remember stating fairly early (about a month ago) in this thread that I recommend everyone to hold on with upgrading until series 800 (or 900 in the end) is released.

But hey, GTX 770 is a fine card and will last you for some time now, it's not like it's terrible purchase...

What? In Germany and I guess most other countries you have 2 weeks time to send anything back for free, you don't even have to pay the shipping.

@Dommy73,Hadley88 Like you said Dommy, it's a fine card. My CPU, GPU, RAM, and Hard drive are all ranked 10 on Game debate, So I'm happy and ready for these next two weeks to be over.

@djherokiller, You have been asking that same question for 2 months now. Many people have responded. You should either upgrade or hope for the best and see how it goes.
