NBA 2K14 plays perfectly with classic teams, but lags with current

I have NBA 2K14 on PC, & the game is close to perfect when I'm playing two classic teams, but when I play two current teams, the game lags, & isn't up to par. What's the deal, this seems kind of weird to me, & I've re-installed my disc, same results. Flawless with ANY classic team, but struggles with lagging on current teams. Any theories on the possibility of this, & thanks for taking time to read post.
