Im the only one who wants an improved CPU on NBA2K15/16?

Sun Sep 14, 2014 7:05 am

It seems like NBA2K15 will have the same CPU mechanichs, were players are not smart. Ive been playing 2k for 5 years, and i play everytime in HOF difficulty. And in season games modes or in mycareer, you dont get beat for the best player on the team, you just get beat for the 3pt shooters, cause the players you dont controll just give them space. That ads a non realism to the game. In fact ive been playing associaton with the latest Albys roster, and the Cavs signed Louis Williams. This dude gets more points than lebron, irving and love together.

What do you think guys about the CPU in 2k15?

I'm gonna go and wait for the release before judging how the CPU plays and not after I saw few shaky vids where players of questionable quality play 5 minutes long demo where you probably can't even set proper defensive settings.

No you're definitely not the only one, and I'm glad you brought this up. I'm also playing on HOF difficulty. This is what annoys me with the AI at the moment:

- CPU has no counter plays for a full court defense / trap. It's been like that since 2k10!!! If you trap the play maker, he's in trouble. The play maker will just try to spam his way through the trap, sometimes he'll succeed and it'll look stupid, sometimes he won't and it will still look stupid because none of his teammates try to help him.

- Out of bounds plays are always the same for the CPU.

- CPU tries to spam its way to the basket, with one player (most often the point guard), dribbling for 10 seconds until he's able to get in the box.

- Zone defense has never worked as it should. I know there's the 3 seconds in the box for defense also in the NBA and this makes things different compared to Europe, but still, Zone could be carried out much more effectively than it is right now.

- CPU almost never attempts to trap. The only time I remember the CPU trapping me, is during some "Horns" offensive plays, when I get the first pick, sometimes the tall defender tries to trap the playmaker after the pick. But that's the only case I've noticed any traps.

- CPU almost never attempts to really destroy a player who's been hot. If Manu is on fire, I'd like to see the opponent CPU putting its best defender guarding him full court, denying him the ball.

- Are referees considered CPU? Because if they are I have a lot to say regarding their foul calls. Some of them are truly horrendous, with the defender staying put with his hands straight up, and the guy shooting always gets the call. The calls favor the offense way too much (regardless if it's a human or CPU).

Without talking about the blocking spam foul animations, when a defender its there and gets a blocking foul called just for nothing, when the foul should have gone to the one blocking the shot. CPU its not enought smart i think. in HOF players like Lebron, Durant and other stars dont seem to play right, they should be playing at their level. Instead of this i just seee SG's geeting 3pt shots after 3pt shots. They follow the play thats called for the CPU really hard, and they never have alternatives. I created this topic cause i thought maybe some players could have the same doubts as me, but regarding that only 2 people have answered i maybe ging to delete it. I thought there were a lot of toher gamers thinking about this, but it doesnt seem like:/

@centrifugal
After you score, Or after the CPU rebounds and doesn't go for a fast break, just get back on defense in the half court. Problem solved.

 Hehe, I'm glad you don't work for 2k. It's fun even imagining what your responses would be to gamer criticism.

Gamer: When I try to steal the ball the refs always call a foul.

Columbusbobby: Next time you play defense, keep your hands to yourself. Problem solved.

Gamer: When I am running plays, the screens don't work.

Columbusbobby: After you get the ball and if you don't go for a fast break, don't call a play, instead, play a little freestyle basketball. You could also run an iso play once in a while. Problem solved.

Gamer: When I score points the score is not raised on the scoreboard.

Columbusbobby: Buy a pencil and a notebook, pause the game and write the score yourself. Problem solved.

P.S. By the way I didn't say that the AI is crap. I actually think it's way ahead of many other sports games around. But it is so also due to constructive criticism gamers have provided over the years. It can be improved even more.

Okay, I see your point. I just hate it when I'm online and people play full court press from the first play to the last.

what? For saying this i get this feedback? I only said that his comment was out of side, cause everyone was answering things and his commentary wasnt contributing at all. I dont think theres a need to make a drama of this.

Just for the record, being a Team Member does not make me exempt from being wrong, or that I should be treated differently than anybody else. Everybody should be treated with the same respect, regardless of any of those 'factors' that people like to bring up (post count, time spent on the forums, etc.).

In this particular instance, though, this was a formerly banned member who continues to try and create accounts to access the NLSC, so I thought I'd have a little fun before re-banning him.

Closing this puppy up, since nobody gives a rat's behind about it. :D
