Don't you dare judge Melo by his team. He has to carry Felton's fat ass ffs. He is the only star player of that team. The Spurs meanwhile? FUCKING FUTURE HALL OF FAMERS! You have Timmy and Tony, Manu, etc.

Bench wise, who would the Knicks rely on? Smith? BS. And who would the Spurs rely on? Tiago! Boris! Corey! Patty! Danny! ROAAAAAAAAAAR!

COACH: KNICKS HAD THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COACH IN HISTORY TO COACH THEM(sarcasm intended) whilst the SPURS have Popovich, a runner-up next to the Zen Master's greatness.

NOW TELL ME, IF YOU HAVE SHOOTERS LIKE MILLS, GREEN, GINOBILI SPREADING THE FLOOR, WOULD YOU ALSO TAKE A 3 ALMOST EVERY TIME? HELLLLLLLLLLLLL NAW. WHEN YOU'RE CARMELO AND YOUR POINT GUARD'S BEEN EATING A LOT OF PIZZA ROLLS, WHAT DO YOU DO? MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL AND SHOOT THE BALL! WHO WOULD YOU PASS THE BALL TO? SMITH? LOL. FELTON? LUL.

oh and PS: I'm answering you with valid points and arguments, if you want to carry out a thoughtful conversation you might want to do the same.

I think you're taking this a bit too serious.

Anyways, I couldn't disagree more than Kawhi is #3. He won't be, though, so it's not really anything to fight over.

No I don't want to talk only to TBM, I'm interested to what other people might say too. I'm just not interested in what you have to say. Sorry.

Yes no need to fight about it, it's not like our lives will get any better with either outcome. However - just making conversation here - obviously Spurs will be ranked #1 Team in NBA 2k15. So it makes sense that they will have at least one 90+ player. And if they have to have one 90+ player who is it going to be?

Tim Duncan is not athletic enough and is getting older.

Manu is also older now (although still my all-time favourite player)

Tony Parker could be an alternative.

But I think Kawhai is one of the players who could have all attributes around 90 or 90 plus. He's a great defender, he is one of the best if not the best at stealing balls... he shoots with over 50% field goals and close to 40% three point shots, so he's adept at shooting from close distance and long range... his speed is phenomenal, he can drive, he can pass the ball... So I think he's the number 1 contender from the spurs team to have a 90+ rating.

They will not have a 90+ player.

Put Leonard in NYK and Melo in Spurs...how will that go?

Do you think he will be able to take NYK to the playoffs?

Meanwhile, I can say this for sure that Spurs would go 16-0 in the playoffs.

Re: Only 4 players with over 90 rating

The spurs don't really have any superstars on their team. But they are a team full of stars. Last years Spurs team is arguably one of the best teams to ever play the game. They did this because they had a great starting five and a deep bench. With Pop's coaching and with them playing basketball fundamentals at it's finest showed us some of the best basketball I have ever seen. Truly some of the best team play you are likely to ever witness. That being said, Kawhi Leonard is definitely an up-an-comer in this league.
Is he a superstar? No.
Is he a star? Some would say yes.
If he is not a star now than he will be very soon if he keeps improving. In 2K14 I bumped up his ratings a few points because I think he is a little better than 2K thinks. With this new rating system I'm guessing he will be in the low 80's. 80 at the least.

Kawhi is a good starter, but he just had his week of fame. That's it. He's nowhere near a 90+ rating.
KD and LBJ are 90+, there's no discussion about that.
Melo might mike the list, same goes for CP3, maybe Howard (he might get rating boost in the new system).
Rose might get reevaulated during fiba tournament.
I don't think Harden is gonna make it and Kobe is getting too old and fragile. Spurs' stars aren't getting younger either.
Other than that not many names come to my mind.

The only thing I would change about the spurs....Tiago.

The way Rose has been playing, I doubt he'll be one of the four.

That's the thing though... you'd never get Carmelo Anthony in the Spurs. Popovich would never let an egocentric pompous individual who wants to take the ball home after the game to ruin a well-oiled machine like his team is at the moment. His team is all about sharing the ball.

That's ok though, not everyone understands basketball as coach Popovich does. People are excited with points scored, isolation game, impressive dunks, pompous egos, bling and accessories etc. But basketball doesn't work this way. Popovich has proved this over and over again. International basketball has proved this over and over again with teams like Argentina, Greece and Yugoslavia beating Team USA in the Olympics and the World Cup championships.

This is why you have all these altruistic down-to-earth personalities playing for the Spurs. And saying that the Spurs would go 16 - 0 in the playoffs with Carmello in the team is definitely an overstatement. He'd totally ruin the way Spurs play, he'd dribble the ball too much, he'd try to do things his own way and offensively it'd hurt the Spurs a lot. Plus Lebron would have a field day against Carmello in defense, he wouldn't choke like he did against Leonard.

Re: Only 4 players with over 90 rating

The Spurs would trade Kawhi for Melo in a heartbeat.

Re: Only 4 players with over 90 rating

Sat Sep 06, 2014 5:53 am

Kawhi is a high level role player that fits perfectly into Pops system. 80-85 is a good rating for him. I'm not so sure that his potential should be all that high either considering how many players kill it for the Spurs and then turn to nobodies on other teams. I think Pop and Duncan retire after this season and then we can see how good Kawhi really is. It's just too soon to rank him as a top 10-20 player, insane to think hes a top 4 player.

I think the other 90 besides LeBron, Durant and CP3 will be one of Dwight or Anthony Davis b/c of athleticism and elite defense and avg-to good offense. Melo and Love should be 88 or 89 b/c they don't play any D. You can make a case for Russel Westbrook with his offense, defense and athletic ability.

We just don't know how the ratings system works yet, so hard to predict besides the obvious top 3 players in the NBA.

To be honest, probably not. They just won it without him. Can try and win it again this year. By then, Melo would be stuck on a crap team in his 30s with probably some noob coach after Duncan Pop and Ginobili retire. I personally wouldn't make that trade.

These were intelligent and eloquent responses. Even though we disagree, it'll be a pleasure to reply to this.

I agree that Leonard is not a superstar, as this terms also entail a certain lifestyle but that doesn't go along with rankings in my opinion. I consider rankings - based on what they usually are in 2K games - an average of the accumulation of a players individual attributes. So a player who is 90+ should have attributes that range from 80 to 99 and that includes everything: Defense, Agility, Speed, Triple Threat explosiveness, Drives, Long Range Shots, Dribbling, Post moves, Steals, Quickness, Blocks ... etc. I consider Leonard's attributes in all those areas to be 80 to 99.

I mean just check out this highlights video, ok I know it's highlights and they usually show only the best moments of a player, but still the plethora of options in his offense is just amazing:

phpBB [video]

He can drive, he can dunk, he can shoot the 3-pointer, his post moves are on-par if not better than some of the best nba centers, his ability to steal the ball so often and create easy fast break points is a formidable weapon for any coach as it gives you this 4 points advantage (2 points you didn't receive in defence and 2 points you scored easily in offence).

I mean just check minute 6:25 on the video if you're too bored to watch the whole thing... his speed alone would have to be 98 or 99 in the rankings. And those of you who doubt him, tell me, what attribute of his would you give less than 80?

Dwight Howard should not be ranked 90+ in my opinion because his mid-range, long range shooting should be 60 to 70 (and I may be very generous here) and post moves is definitely south of 85 and maybe even lower than 80.

Anthony Davis, I don't know, I haven't watched him enough to form an opinion.

If I had to make a top four in terms of rankings and not in terms of how much TV/people talk about them I'd say:

Kawhai Leonard
Lebron James
Kevin Durant
I need some time to think of the fourth (I'm thinking Dwayne Wade, Tony Parker and Paul George but haven't decided on who would get it, they all have disadvantages)

lmao. you're not only saying that Kawhi Leonard is better than Carmelo, but you also think Dwyane Wade, Tony Parker, and George are better than Melo and CP3?

First, you are REALLY overrating Kawhi. Put Kawhi on the Knicks last year with the same roster and same coach. The Knicks don't suddenly become a playoff team. In fact, they would lose a lot more games than they did with Melo. Sure, Kawhi is better defensively than Melo but Melo is better in nearly every other aspect. He is a much better shooter, better rebounder, and averaged more assists. Kawhi's rating is at max an 85. Averaging 13 points a season doesn't get you a 90 rating when only 4 players have 90+ ratings.

Second, Dwyane Wade is old. He disappeared in the playoffs last season and doesn't have the athleticism he had in his prime. Max for him is probably mid-high 80s.

Third, CP3 is the best PG in the league. Tony Parker is great, probably the 2nd best, but if CP3 doesn't get a rating above a 90 then TP doesn't either.

And finally, Paul George. He was pretty mediocre this season. Definitely not better than Melo. IMO his rating should be about the same as Kawhi's, maybe slightly higher.

Probably KD, LeBron, CP3, and Andre Drummond tbh.

You're correct, it only shows the best moments of a player. That's exactly what happened at the 6:25 mark.

Drummond's rated 83, I think. Would've gotten to 99 if the FT rating isn't 25.
