Rondo’s shot lift Celtics past Knicks

The Boston Celtics is still looking good, advancing 1 game up the East standings while defiling the Knicks’ record of 6-12.
It was a close game in the 1st where the Celtics only led by as much as 1 point and looked derailed in defense because of foul trouble. In the second quarter, Boston put on a 15-2 run taking a 16-point lead and maintaining it until the 3rd quarter starts.

New York looked lost without their star forward Carmelo Anthony who was not shooting and scoring like he has been, clearly suffering because of his matchup with veteran Vince Carter. Carmelo only shot 4-15 in the field and surprisingly have not attempted a 3-point shot through-out the game, finishing with only 13 points while Carter finished with 16 points in 7-14 shooting in the field.

After the Celtics’ amazing 2nd and 3rd quarter, the Knicks came back as soon as J.R. Smith came back on the floor and scoring 12 points in the last 5 minutes for the Knicks. The Knicks closed the third quarter with a 15-5 run following Raymond Felton’s last shot to close the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, it was a neck and neck game where the Celtics and Knicks barely held on to their leads. But with 13.4s remaining in the clock and the Knicks leading by 2 points in the fourth quarter, Rondo was subbed in. With 13s remaining, Green passed the ball to Rondo’s hands and with 10s remaining, pulled up beyond the arc and hits it with only 6.2s remaining in the shot clock.

The Knicks called timeout but their designed play didn’t work as Carmelo missed the go-ahead runner in the final seconds.

Kelly Olynyk was big for the Celtics as he finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, gaining a player of the game award while Rajon Rondo had 20 and 8 assists.

The Knicks leading scorer in tonights game is Tyson Chandler who had 22 points and 14 boards while J.R. Smith came second with 21 points.

Pierce’s Nets win first game against Rondo’s Celtics

Tonight’s game featured the trio’s reunion as they battled head-to-head. Before the game started, Rondo was approached by his former teammates Garnett and Pierce and they talked like best friends and kindly accepted the fact that it wasn’t at all their decision to be separated and that they now have separate teams to take care with. Unlike Garnett’s past gesture against Allen, it was rather a happy reunion for the trio.

Anyways, it was the Nets who pulled up on top against the Celtics mainly because of Joe Johnson’s 20 points and Pierce’s 16. The Nets also held Boston to a 34% shooting, a peculiar sighting for the Celtics. Boston also committed a total of 22 turnovers while the Nets only had 14. The Fouls Total was also a factor tonight as the Celtics had 21 while Brooklyn only had 14.

Brooklyn pulled away in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter where they started a 14-4 run with 5:26 remaining and felt unstoppable beyond the three-point line and in forcing the ball over against the Celtics.

The game ended with the Nets scoring 110 points while the Celtics had 100. Joe Johnson acquired the Player of the Game award.

Clippers win first 2 quarters, Celtics own 3rd and 4th

It was one hell of a game in Boston TD as the Celtics came back from a 13-point lead by the Clips. The Clippers were however without star forward Blake Griffin while Boston currently doesn’t have Forward Jared Sullinger.

The Clippers were shooting at a high percentage in the first two quarters as they relied on Jamal Crawford as their offensive maestro. He had 15 of his 28 points in the 1st half. In the third quarter, the Clippers were holding on to a 13-point lead with 5 minutes remaining in the quarter. The Celtics first came on short runs, cutting it one time at 6 points but they were no match for the Clippers effort in rebounding the ball to get second chance points. But with only 3:26 left in the third, the Celticcs went on a decisive 9-0 run and ended the third quarter with a 3 from Bogans which made it a 2-point game going in to the 4th quarter. In the 4th, it was a back and forth game as the two teams can’t come out with a lead larger than 1 point. Boston however went on a frenzy behind the 3-point line as they made three quick 3-point baskets and Rondo made two consecutive steals that led to a Bradley dunk on the end. The game was beyond the Clippers reach when Chris Paul committed a turnover that led to a 3-point play in the fastbreak. The Celtics held on a 5-point lead to end the game.

The Clippers owned the Celtics in the rebounding category with 50 rebounds while the Celtics only had 32. Celtics however had 35 assists while the opposing team only had 24 and the Clippers also committed a total of 21 turnovers compared to the Celtic’s 14.

Avery Bradley won the Player of the Game award with his 37 points, 4 rips, and 6 assists.

Duncan announces he will retire after the season.


Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs announced his thoughts in retiring after his team’s win against Milwaukee last night.

The 37-year old forward said that this will be his last season in the NBA and he also said that he will surely make it count. Duncan, as we all know, is a future Hall of Famer and has won 4 championships and is looking for his fifth this season.

Smith’s 18 enough to hold off Celtics; 68-84

The New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics squared off for the second time in one week. The last time we saw these two teams played, it went down to the wire and we saw Rondo take the game-winning shot and left the Knicks to their misery.

However, in this game we saw the Knicks looking for vengeance as they went on a rather fast start. They went on a commanding 12-1 run to start the game and went on a shooting spree behind the arc where they shot 43% in the first quarter alone. Steals also came out big for the Knicks as we saw the Celtics get rattled after every steal that they come up with.



Boston also had foul trouble early in the game. They were in the penalty with just 5 minutes off the clock in the first quarter. Boston’s bench also didn’t produce like they are needed to. The Celtic’s bench only had 14 points while the Knicks’ had 32.

Boston came only as close as 5 points in the third quarter where they out on a 14-0 run led by Green and Bradley. They eventually came short and it was again, erased by the Knicks.

J.R. Smith was awarded the Player of the Game award with his 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.

Celtics look to lower Salary Cap; Trade Humphries to Spurs



The Boston Celtics surprised the league with big news. They again, have traded their players for a set of new ones. We all know that the Celtics are pretty stacked on their salary cap and this trade was intended to finally give them breathing room and cut-off some space.

The trade rumors were started a week before this whole trade happened. It was said that General Manager Kevin Parker was looking to unload some of their overpaid contracts in a press conference held after the team’s win against the Clippers last week. The media then speculated who would eventually end up getting traded. ESPN predicted it was Gerald Wallace and Jared Sullinger that should’ve been out of the team but they were wrong. GM Parker seemed to have other plans with this Celtic’s team and we might as well see if it works.

The original deal was to get Humphries out of Boston but it seemed like there was not a team that is interested in him but after the Spurs were contacted by the Boston GM, he got interested but he needs more than Humphries so he presented a contract offer.

The Celtics ended up with Tiago Splitter, whose rebounding and defensive mindset is currently needed. Patty Mills, whose laser 3-point shooting and good ball handling make up for a great backup point guard for Rondo. And Austin Daye who would fill out the remaining spots of the bench. Boston did this trade while trading away backup PG Jerryd Bayless, overpaid forward Kris Humphries and seldom used Chris Johnson.

When GM Parker was interviewed by the media about the trade and how they are going to fit in the Celtic’s he said, “I’m very confident that I made the right move sending those three players to the other team while at the same time acquiring great talents. As for the second question, I think they would fit in great with our style of play. They also give us some depth in the floor. I hope Celtic’s fans would respect my decision as I have put in a lot of work to make this happen.”

Pistons spoil Splitter’s debut, defeat Celtics
The crowd roared and cheered when the names were called for Boston’s newcomers Splitter, Mills and Daye. The arena boomed with cheers and applause as they greeted them.
The game started with Splitter starting the center position and Mills being the backup point guard and Daye as a 7th man.

The two teams seemed even as the two never had the early lead that they wanted but the Pistons went on an 8-0 run to close the first quarter. The first quarter ended with the two teams in foul trouble, Andre Drummond had 4 fouls in just the first while Bradley had 3.
In the second quarter, the Pistons took control as they had a 17-point lead with only 4 minutes remaining but the Celtics didn’t give up. They scrambled back up on top that gave the Pistons only a 2-point advantage. The quarter ended with the two teams tied.
In the second half specifically in the third quarter with the two teams tied, Andre Drummond fouled out of the game with still 9 minutes in the clock and the Pistons were then expected to slow down without their big guy working magic in the post but they were wrong. The Pistons made it a motivation to finish the third quarter with a blast as they pulled up for a 15-point lead to end the 3rd without the Celtics answering. In the fourth, Boston looked to bounce back with Mills and Splitter controlling the flow but they were still out of luck as Detroit wins the game, 128-139.
The Pistons looked determined as they clashed with the Celtics as they pulled in offensive and defensive rebounds left and right, amounting to 36 defensive rebounds and 16 offensive boards. Meanwhile, the Celtic’s were no match for the Piston’s bigs as they were largely outrebounded with the whole team only pulling down 32 boards.

Pistons were also consistent in their shooting as they shot 50% beyond the arc compared to Celtic’s who only shot 34%.

A surprising outing for Boston’s Tiago Splitter as he had his career high in points with 36 and finished with 7 rebounds.

Magic/Celtics agree to Harris deal

The Boston Celtics front office once again made a trade. They traded Veteran forward Gerald Wallace for Orlando Magic’s Tobias Harris. The trade was announced before the month of December ended.
When General Manager Kevin Parker was interviewed about the deal he said, “The front office right now, aims to clear the cap space and get as many picks as we can because we need it in going forward. We are thankful for Gerald’s (Wallace) efforts in making this team better on the court, we wish him luck.”
The trade clearly will benefit the Celtics, they traded away a 31 year old veteran for a 21 year old forward who is clearly much more better than him. We also need to take note that in 3 years, Wallace should get a total of 30.32M while Tobias in 2 years of his contract only gets a total of 3.93M, let us also not forget that the Celtics got a new pick for this year’s draft.
One things for sure, the Celtics are looking to push their luck in this year’s draft.
