Ty Lawson wouldn't be the best fit imho. Heat need more of a combo guard or at least a point guard who is also a capable spot up shooter.

They need that and a big man to protect the rim.

Lebron opting out is just him telling Pat Riley and Mickey Aaronson to strengthen the supporting cast.

That would be awesome but why in the world would Denver let him go? He's the only reason they weren't terrible.

It will be interesting to see LeBron James in another uniform, so Carmelo does.

LeBron and 'Melo together wouldn't be a perfect match...

Not that it will ever happen, but LeBron and Melo could be the perfect match if LeBron releases his inner Magic Johnson. Melo going for the scoring champion while LeBron going for triple-doubles every game.

That's what almost everyone said with LeBron and Wade in their first year together.

Apparently the decision is in Wade's hands.

i figure its 95% that he stays in miami but the wade issue is a tricky one. everyone knows he is on the decline so does he care more about 1 more big pay day or does he care to continue fighting for rings. what is more important to him at this point. at the end of the day i dont see lebron leaving.

I don't understand how one would not care about getting more rings as long as playing in the NBA. If not, then what are you playing for?

If LeBron leaves and Wade stays, Miami will barely make it to the playoffs. That's with Bosh staying.

Making money for yourself, your family, and your future, like what any professional does.

not everyone cares about rings and even less care after they get that 1. i am not saying this is wade just some players care more about money than rings. its a job for them not a passion.

And even if they are passionate about the sport/winning, money is understandably a factor at some point. Endorsements and Kobe-like extensions aside, there's usually a window on how long star players can keep earning the really big bucks, so at some point it's something they have to consider. Having said that, I still feel it's unlikely that anything is going to prevent LeBron from re-signing with the Heat.

It might be more reassuring for Heat fans to hear him come right out and express that desire, but after all the criticism that was made of The Decision, perhaps he's aiming for a more low key approach this time around. They'll come to terms, a press release will be issued, LeBron will comment on his desire to lead Miami to more championships, and they will indeed continue to be in the thick of the title hunt. Much ado about nothing, as I said.

couldnt agree more with this entire post. lebron is staying and wade knows his time is limited. i assume wade will have a spot saved somewhere for him for when he retires

That's the most likely scenario. But I don't know what is taking so long. There was no need for all this drama. For Melo, it's understandable but LeBron and Heat was unnecessary.

The wall he's hit this time was falling a few wins short of a third straight championship, in a fourth straight Finals appearance. There's still a promising future in Miami as far as his personal success and team success is concerned. There was a lot more uncertainty and cause for concern in Cleveland.

Tough to know with him, especially with the way his free agency went before, but I'd be far more surprised if he left Miami than if he stayed, either reaping a bigger payday or taking a further paycut so that the team can re-load.

a few wins short? they were embarrassed in the finals in what should have been a 4 game sweep. explain what exactly in the future is promising for miami? bosh is turning into bill wennington and wade is broken. there is a lot of uncertainty with the miami roster. no depth. lack of athleticism. no developing studs.

it may be the East still but they won't have a cakewalk to the finals like they did this past year.

Veteran power forward Udonis Haslem has opted out of his deal with the Miami Heat and will become an unrestricted free agent, according to a report.

LeBron James has already opted out of his deal with the Heat, and Dwyane Wade followed suit on Saturday. Chris Bosh -- who, like Wade, has the same representation as Haslem -- has until midnight on Monday to make the same decision.

James, Bosh and Wade met Wednesday over a meal to discuss their futures, sources told ESPN.com.

As usual it's Bosh again, probably holding from opting out unless the Heat guarantee to find someone that will play center instead of him.

That's why I eagerly wanted Mitch McGary drafted but the Thunder cockblocked and stole him.

Napier could be nice but there's Lowry whom the Heat should strongly chase after (granted trio takes a paycut).
