Definitely a win win. Dallas rectifies the mistakes of letting Tyson go as well as signing an aging no defense Calderon long term. Losing #34 hurts but that's literally the biggest negative consequence. If they keep most of their vets and add a good SF, they should win 50+ next year. Harris/Ellis/Deng/Dirk/Chandler is arguably the worst case scenario and spacing aside, is an upgrade.
With or without Melo, NY is better off. Calderon is way better than Felon and his shooting should make him a good triangle point guard. The picks and Larkin are okay assets and while Chandler is better than Dally, he had written out his welcome and is paid like a fourth as much. Ellington is filler.
Both teams improve short term and long. Being on the hook for Calderon til 2017 bites for New York but he might actually be useful. Mavs clear 2015 space while improving defensively.
