2014 Playoffs: (4) Houston vs. (5) Portland

Wed Apr 16, 2014 6:48 am

One of two playoff series currently set in stone - who ya got in this rematch from 2009 (in which zero of the current Rockets players played in)?

Homerism aside, I got Houston in 6. Portland has a better shot than I thought they did a couple weeks ago with lingering injuries and meh play from the Rockets as of late but while hot shooting should be worth a couple wins, the defense just isn't there.

Hell yea, it, is, time.Time for terrible predictions

Houston in 5 because of Lillard's Adidas curse. You NEVER make fun of the Mailman :shifty:

What Jao said about that jerk Lillard, in 6.

Yay also for Lamrock making the playoff threads again.

The Rockets in 7. Almost was tempted to go with the Blazers mostly because I like them more but the Rockets advancing should make the 2nd round more epic imo.

Rockets in 6.

I'll also go with the Rockets in six. The Blazers' hot start is a fading memory and injuries have taken their toll, while the Rockets have been reasonably consistent and are in pretty good shape heading into the Playoffs.

If that prediction holds true, then it could be quite an interesting series with the Spurs in the second round, since the Rockets swept their regular season series with them for the first time since 1989.

This is going to be so much damn fun... Houston in seven with Jeremy Lin hitting the game-winner in game 7 :D

Of all the players rumored to be going to Chicago he's the one I'm hoping that will join the Bulls... what happened to the Rockets? I left for work and turned if off around the 4 or 3 minute mark at the 4th quarter and they're up, as long as I can remember, by 11(?) and it seems that Portland have given up already, missing tons of their shots and Lillard appeared to be injured... choke city revisited...

Huge effort by LMA. Surprisingly he did most of the damage in the post, straying away from those bad long 2s. Should be one of the better series this year.

Hack-a-Howard strategy worked is what happened. Howard missed 4 straight FTs then he got subbed out of the game and Blazers attacked the paint.

NBA: Dwight Howard's 6th foul was incorrect call

That's two apologies/admissions of error that the NBA has had to issue after two days of Playoff action. A bit sloppy on the part of the officials.

So it's all about missed calls and panic induced brain farts then...

More like it's a case of old habits die hard. The Rockets were number 1 fast paced team last season and number 5 this season (#1 in all playoffs team). Jacking up the shot with 20 seconds left on the clock is just the way they're comfortable and used to playing. It probably initiated the comeback for the Blazers. Part of it is McHale's fault imo.
